MACHINE FOR GENTLY BANDING SENSITIVE GOODS
A banding machine is disclosed including a band guide, a band drive, a rotary encoder and a controller. The band guide is provided with at least one distance sensor. With the aid of the at least one distance sensor, distances to a packaged good lying within the band guide can be determined. With the aid of the band drive, a band can be inserted into the band guide and retracted. The rotary encoder can be used to detect a retracted length of the band or the differential length, which is the difference between the inserted length and the retracted length of the band. The controller is designed to determine a desired value taking into account the distances determined by means of the at least one distance sensor. The controller is designed to control the band drive in such a way that, during retraction, the band is initially retracted at a first retraction speed and, as soon as the retracted length or the difference length corresponds to the desired value, the band is retracted at a second retraction speed which is lower than the first retraction speed.

STRAPPING DEVICE CONFIGURED TO CARRY OUT A STRAP-ATTACHMENT CHECK CYCLE
Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide a strapping device configured to carry out a strap-attachment check cycle. After attaching leading and trailing strap ends of a strap to one another to form a tensioned loop of strap around a load, the strapping device is configured to carry out the strap-attachment cycle to test the strength of the attachment between the leading and trailing strap ends and to provide feedback as to whether the strap attachment is satisfactory.
BINDING MACHINE AND METHOD FOR SECURING A PART OF A BINDING ELEMENT IN A LOOP AROUND ONE OR MORE OBJECTS
A binding machine comprising: —a feeding device for feeding a binding element (3) in the form of a wire or strap in a loop around one or more objects to be bound and subsequently retracting the binding element to draw it tightly around said objects; and —a laser welding device for forming a welded joint between a section at the leading end of the binding element and an adjoining section at the trailing end of the part (3a) of the binding element fed in a loop around said objects to thereby secure this part of the binding element in a loop around the objects. The laser welding device is configured to cut off the binding element at said trailing end to thereby release said part (3a) of the binding element from the remaining part (3b) of the binding element.

Binding machine and method for securing a part of a binding element in a loop around one or more objects
A binding machine comprising: —a feeding device for feeding a binding element (3) in the form of a wire or strap around one or more objects and subsequently retracting the binding element to draw it tightly around said objects; and —a laser welding device (12) for forming a welded joint between a first section at the leading end of the binding element and an adjoining second section at the trailing end of the part (3a) of the binding element fed around said objects to thereby secure this part of the binding element in a loop around the objects. The laser welding device directs a laser beam onto an area (30) at the trailing end of said second section in order to reduce the tensile strength of the binding element, wherein the feeding device retracts the binding element in order to subject this area to tensile stress and thereby cause the binding element to be broken off.
