A sterilization apparatus for sterilizing a web of packaging material advancing along a web advancement path-comprises an irradiation device for sterilizing the advancing packaging material web, a main shielding chamber housing the irradiation device and comprising an advancement channel having an inlet opening and an outlet opening and through which, in use, the packaging material web advances along the sterilization portion, an auxiliary shielding chamber upstream of the advancement channel along the web advancement path, the auxiliary shielding chamber having an inner space in fluid connection with the advancement channel and comprising an extraction opening allowing gas extraction from the auxiliary shielding chamber. An aspiration device generates a first flow of gas within the advancement channel from the outlet opening to the inlet opening and a second flow of gas from the inlet opening to the extraction opening.

A formed tray for baking and transporting a food product is provided herein. In some embodiments, the formed tray includes two cavities surrounded by a peripheral flange. In addition, the formed tray also may include a rigid bridge extending between the cavities and recessed below the peripheral flange. The peripheral flange of the formed tray may include beveled corners and two concave sections. A pre-cooked food product may be disposed in the cavities and sealed within the formed tray by a flexible film. Also provided herein is a process for baking and sealing a food product within the formed tray to provide a pre-cooked packaged food product that may be stored and transported.

The enclosure defines an access passage to the inner space and at least one wall for closing the access passage, the closure wall and the access passage being movable the one relative to the other between an open configuration of the access passage which the closure wall is able to occupy in a rest position of the decontamination member and a closed configuration of the access passage which the closure wall occupies in the decontamination position of the decontamination member.

An electron beam irradiation device includes: an electron beam generation part; a housing part that provides a vacuum space in which the electron beam generation part is accommodated; an electron beam guide part in which a base end side is connected to the housing part and communicates with the vacuum space, in which a tip end side is provided with a long tubular member capable of being inserted into a container via a mouth portion of the container, and in which the electron beams pass through an inside; an electron beam emission window which is provided on the tip end side of the electron beam guide part; and an adjustment part that adjusts a trajectory of the electron beams in the electron beam guide part. The adjustment part is disposed on the base end side of the electron beam guide part on an outside of the vacuum space.
