20180199544 · 2018-07-19 ·

A horse blanket includes a blanket shell to protect a horse from cold and moisture, and when needed in colder weather, it can be augmented by insertion of one of several insulators into a space provided between layers of the blanket shell. The blanket shell's outer layer is waterproof and weather-resistant, with the inner layer that bears against the horse having a surface comfortable to the horse. The outer layer has one and preferably two elongated access openings, positioned to be at left and right sides of the horse, for inserting, removing or exchanging insulative inserts.

Body Temperature Modulating Garment

A garment for facilitating the effective body temperature modulation, e.g., cooling, that incorporates both evaporative and radiant cooling phenomena is described. The present invention generally relates to a garment and method of use thereof for body temperature modulation of companion animals, specifically, a garment incorporates evaporative cooling, radiant cooling, or the combination thereof, which is configured to carry, e.g., ice in compartments that allow the melting ice to bathe the animal's skin directly in cool water, thereby facilitating evaporative and radiant cooling simultaneously, while adding only minimal weight to the animal's load. The garment comprises: a bodice, at least belt member having at least one adjustable fastening means, and at least one compartment for receiving a cooling and/or heating agent.

The invention comprises equine leggings, harness, and one-piece, stretch fabric, zippered bodysuit oras a variantlightweight, long-tassel fringe bodysuit with modified harness. Combined, the invention provides complete equine body protection from flying and biting insects. The leggings stretch from hoof to shoulder; the harness encircles the neck then extends down the horse's spine from wither to rump; suspender-type straps extend from the harness to secure the leggings, which feature elasticized gussets at top and bottom to aid fitting; the bodysuit, with a singular, contoured zippered fastening under the belly, stretches around and over first the head, along the horse's body and back, then over the tail in one fitting. The long-tassel fringe bodysuit variant attaches to a modified harness that omits the suspender straps and adds a loop to encircle the tail. The horse can be ridden under saddle while wearing bodysuit, harness, and leggings.

COMPOSITE ELECTRICALLY HEATABLE BLANKET FOR DOMESTICATED QUADRUPED ANIMALS

A composite horse heating blanket is comprised by an upper electrically heatable blanket section dimensioned and shaped to overlap a top section of a horse's body to cover the back spinal regions and upper regions of the rib cage of the horse on opposite sides of the horse. The upper heating blanket section has a marginal lower side free end edge band region adapted for the securement of a depending blanket section to provide cover below the upper region of the rib cage portion on opposite sides of the horse's body. A switch controls the electrical power from the batteries to the electrical heating elements. The side blanket sections are removably attached to the upper blanket section and provide many additional features and advantages with heated or non-heated horse blankets.
