The synthetic resin container is provided with a bottom wall that forms the bottom of the container, and a drum section that is united to the perimeter of the bottom wall and forms a filling space M for contents on the inside, and is a synthetic resin container wherein a raised bottom is formed by inverting and folding back said bottom wall toward said drum section. Said drum section has a lower peripheral wall that touches or approaches the outer wall part of said bottom wall and forms a self-supporting base by the inversion and folding back of said bottom wall.

The present invention relates to the use of a polyethylene material in liquid containers that are sterilisable at a temperature of 100 C. during a period of >15 minutes, wherein the polyethylene material has a density >928 kg/m.sup.3 as determined according to ISO 1183-1, method A, and a melt mass flow rate of 0.50 and 51.00 g/10 min as determined according to ISO 1133-1 at a temperature of 190 C. and a load of 2.16 kg; wherein the polyethylene material produced in a high-pressure free-radical polymerisation process at a pressure of 1600 bar.

A bottom portion includes: a peripheral portion having an annular shape; a protruding ridge disposed radially inward of the peripheral portion and configured to serve as a ground contacting portion of the synthetic resin bottle by protruding downward from the peripheral portion and configured, when deformed under a reduced pressure, to make the peripheral portion serve as the ground contacting portion by displaced toward an inside of the synthetic resin bottle (i.e., upward); and a depressed recess located radially inward of the protruding ridge and depressed toward the inside of the synthetic resin bottle. The peripheral portion includes a plurality of groove portions extending radiately.

A wine bottle is sized to fit substantially into the wine glass in an inverted orientation with a removable bottle cap nested within the central punt, and with an upper rim of the wine bottle snap-fitted into a shallow groove formed in the wine bottle near a lower end thereof. This entire package is sterile-wrapped in a sealed shrink-wrap plastic or the like. The package can be opened when desired to permit removal of the wine bottle from the wine glass, following by bottle opening and pouring of the contents into the wine glass.
