ORIOLE BIRD FEEDER WITH TAPERED PORT ACCESS CHANNEL AND INTEGRATED PERCH
20190335716 · 2019-11-07 · ·

An Oriole bird feeder having a nectar reservoir with a base and a tapered port, and preferably a tapered port/perch assembly, is provided. The bird feeder allows Orioles and other similarly sized members of the Icterid family of birds to land on the perch and access the nectar in the reservoir base while, due to the diminishing taper of the opening in the tapered port, simultaneously preventing average sized Italian, Carniolan and Caucasian honey bees from entering the reservoir base through the port to obtain the nectar where they subsequently become trapped and perish.

Small seed converter for bird feeder

Implementations described and claimed herein provide apparatuses and methods for facilitating filling and cleaning of bird feeders that are aesthetically pleasing and adaptable for attracting different types of birds. In one implementation, a bird feeder includes a port having a surface extending from a proximal end to a distal end. The proximal end has a connecting portion configured to connect to a reservoir. The surface has one or more openings defined therein. A small seed converter is insertable into the port, and the small seed converter includes a plurality of teeth extending from an edge. The plurality of teeth are configured to narrow the one or more openings for dispensing small sized seed.

BIRD FEEDER WITH SQUIRREL RESISTING FEATURES

A birdfeeder apparatus for discouraging squirrels from accessing birdfeed in the birdfeeder apparatus may comprise a feed holder configured to contain a quantity of birdfeed and having a perimeter wall with an upper portion and a lower portion, with the upper portion and the lower portion of the feed holder each having a width. The apparatus may also comprise at least one feed opening being located on the lower portion and extending through the perimeter wall of the feed holder, and a perch configured to support a bird feeding at the at least one feed opening, with the perch being located adjacent to the at least one feed opening on the lower portion of the perimeter wall and extending outwardly from the perimeter wall. The width of the upper portion may be larger than the width of the lower portion.

Pest resistant birdfeeder

The present technology provides systems and methods for resisting intrusion of a pest into a supply of bird seed held in a birdfeeder. In one implementation, a base has a surface extending to a base edge. A perch has a body extending from a perch first end to a perch second end. The perch body is disposed relative to a slot. A collapsible member is mounted to the base at a first attachment point. The first attachment point is disposed inward relative to the base edge. The collapsible member is mounted to the perch at a second attachment point. The collapsible member has a pivot point defined between the first attachment point and the second attachment point. The collapsible member moves the perch from a feeding position to a non-feeding position by pivoting at the pivot point upon an application of a force above a threshold on the perch body.

BIRD FEEDER WITH HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE PERCH AND BLOCKING ROOF

A bird feeder is provided with a containing structure including an internal space and at least one feeding opening on an outer surface of the containing structure and communicating with the internal space; a perch including a central bossed hole with the containing structure disposed through, and a channel disposed through a surface of the bossed hole wherein the perch is disposed under the feeding opening and configured to slidably, longitudinally move on the containing structure; at least one positioning device disposed through the channel to urge against the containing structure for fastening the perch and the containing structure together; and a blocking roof releasably disposed on the containing structure and above the feeding opening. A height difference between the blocking roof and the perch is adjustable.

Bird feeder

A bird feeder including a shroud embracing a vertically disposed feed container with the feed container having a feed tray at the lower end thereof. The shroud is vertically movable between an upper position and a lower position with respect to the feed container. In its upper position, birds are able to gain access to the feed tray. In its lower position, the shroud blocks access to the feed tray. A spring yieldably maintains the shroud in its upper position. If a squirrel climbs onto the shroud, the weight of the squirrel overcomes the resistance of the spring which results in the shroud moving to its lower position to prevent the squirrel from gaining access to the feed tray. Three different embodiments of the spring are described and shown. The design of the cover of the shroud partially shields the spring from inclement weather.

Bird feeder with rain deflector

A bird feeder with a plurality of feed openings in the seed tube base, and a deflector located above the seed tube base, the deflector extending outwardly above the feed openings such that the deflector is able to deflect water flowing downwardly from said seed tube to a location intermediate the feed openings.

BIRD FEEDER WITH A HELICAL STRUCTURE ON A CONTAINER

A bird feeder is provided with a containing structure including an internal space and at least one feeding opening on an outer surface of the containing structure and communicating with the internal space; a helical structure disposed on the outer surface of the containing structure in the form of a helix wherein pitch is defined as a distance from the crest of one thread of the helical structure to the next thereof; and at least one perch disposed on the outer surface of the containing structure and each disposed directly under the feeding opening.

Squirrel-proof bird feeder

An animal feeder includes a feed bin that is at least partially defined by a base, an interior panel extending upward from the base, and an exterior panel extending upward from the base. An intermediate structure is located between the interior panel and the exterior panel. The feed bin contains an opening that is covered by the intermediate structure when a predetermined weight is placed on the intermediate structure.

Bird feeder cable lid lock and bird feeder with the same

A bird feeder cable lid lock is provided for a bird feeder having a feed reservoir body with a removable lid having an aperture therein, and a wire or cable threaded through the aperture by which the feeder is suspended in use. The cable lid lock includes a threaded bolt having an axial hole through which the hanging cable is fed and an internally threaded base element in abutment with the lid and having a stepped or tapered bore with a diminishing diameter that receives the bolt. The bolt has a relief cut in the shank to form at least two arms on different sides of the cable. The arms are pressed toward one another as the bolt is tightened into the diminishing diameter base element bore, squeezing the cable where it extends through the bolt and exerting a significant force normal to the cable that, with the coefficient of friction, creates a very effective locking action on the cable to secure the lid against the feed reservoir body.
