A second rivet extends outwardly from the end panel to cooperate with a portion of the body proximate the lift portion.

Laminated can end stock with elevated temperature annealing

Improved aluminum can end stock (CES) is disclosed. The CES includes a laminated, amorphous polymer coating exhibiting low feathering, low blushing, and high performance in an acetic acid test. The laminated metal strip can include the laminated polymer coating on an interior-facing side and a lacquered coating on an exterior-facing side. The CES is formed by performing an annealing process on the laminated metal strip, wherein the metal strip is raised to an annealing temperature above the melting point of the polymer for a sufficient duration to render the polymer amorphous. In some cases, the polymer film laminated to the metal strip is a Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film.

A lid is provided which permits a user to drink from a beverage can suspended within the interior of a disposable coffee cup. The user can thereby drink from the beverage can without the user's lips touching the can surface. Also it appears to an observer that the user is drinking from the disposable cup, not the beverage can, and also the beverage can is insulated to keep it cold. According to one embodiment, the lid has a standard outer circumference which engages and seals with the rim of the disposable cup. It also has an inner circular attachment ring attached to the lower inner surface of the lid which has tabs to grasp the rim of the beverage can and form an upper chamber through which the beverage can flow from the beverage can opening to the lid's drinking aperture. A gasket seals the circumference of the circular ring against the beer can. Thus the beverage can is suspended in the interior of the coffee cup and the beverage flows from the beverage can through the lid aperture when the cup is tipped.

Lid for an aluminum beverage can

The invention refers to a can lid for an aluminum beverage can. The can lid has a pull tab, a chuck wall defining a plug diameter, a countersink and central panel having a panel radius. On the central panel, a score line defining a tear panel and a rivet for connecting a pull tab to the can lid are arranged. The rivet extends through a rivet island that is arranged between an opening part of the pull tab and a handle part of the pull tab. The lid has lid plug diameter of between 45 to 49 mm, an outside diameter of between 52 to 55 mm and a weight of less than 1.9 grams. The central panel has a thickness of less than 0.19 mm. The score line defines an area of between 300 mm.sup.2 to 350 mm.sup.2 and the score line has a shortest distance from the panel radius of less than 3 mm.

A beverage can end for seaming onto a can body may include a peripheral wall, a center panel (26), a tab (attached to the center panel by a rivet (28), a tear panel (60), a main reference line (Rm), a transverse reference line (R1), and a score (30). The end includes an anti-fracture score (40) proximate a vent score (70). The center panel includes a recess (27), in which the main score, an antifracture score, and (optionally) the anti-tension score (50) are located. The score is configured such that lifting the tab from its horizontal rest position to an intermediate position ruptures the main score portion to pivot the tear panel main portion about the hinge (70) and a second lifting operation or twisting operation of the tab ruptures the main score extension (34).
