A top-fill hummingbird feeder is provided having a nectar container with a liquid flow opening at a lower end and a removable cap at an upper end, a feeding basin positioned below the nectar container, and a sealing mechanism associated with the liquid flow opening and the feeding basin. The sealing mechanism includes a bottle seal assembly configured for removable coupling with a base of the feeding basin, and a float valve captured by said bottle seal assembly to prevent rotation thereof while allowing the float valve to move upwardly and downwardly with changing nectar levels in the feeding basin. The float valve includes a float having a frame with a buoyant member mounted thereon, the buoyant member being made of a closed-cell foam.

Bird or Hummingbird Feeder Nesting Pole

The present invention relates to a simple, inexpensive and easy to use design which assists in filling the bird or hummingbird feeders which are nested on poles. The assembly provides tubes of varying lengths which are nested within each other and when the filling operation is required, the smaller tube nested within the larger tube can slide together, lowering the height to facilitate an easy feed filling process for users.

Birdfeeders with multiple feeding ports

Various birdfeeder designs are provided for flowable bird feed such as seeds or nectar. In one design, the birdfeeder (100) has a housing including first and second receptacles (102 and 104). The receptacles (102 and 104) are intertwined to form a double helical configuration. A large number of feed ports (106) can be distributed across the receptacles (102 and 104) to attract a large number of birds in a small area. Partitions (116) within the receptacles (102 and 104) define a number of feed chambers (118) to supply feed at the feed ports (106).

AUXILIARY ANT MOAT FOR HUMMINGBIRD FEEDER AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF

An ant moat for use with a hummingbird feeder and an ant-resistant hummingbird assembly are provided. The ant moat includes a reservoir body having a base and at least one sidewall that together define a cup or container having a fluid holding region with an open top. The sidewall of the reservoir body includes a water level indicator and an oil level indicator that is positioned above the water level indicator. In use, water is added to the reservoir body up to the water level indicator, and then a layer of oil is added, on top of the water, up to the oil level indicator. The oil acts to prevent the water from evaporating which extends the time period over which the moat can effectively prevent ants from reaching the nectar access apertures in the hummingbird feeder.

Top-fill hummingbird feeder with float valve base closure mechanism

A top-fill hummingbird feeder is provided having a liquid container with a liquid flow opening at a lower end and a removable cap at an upper end, a feeding basin positioned below the liquid container, and a sealing mechanism associated with the liquid flow opening and the feeding basin. The feeding basin is filled by gravity feed of the liquid in the container through the liquid flow opening when the sealing mechanism is open. When the feeding basin reaches a full position, the liquid nectar raises the float valve which, in turn, acts to close the liquid flow opening.

Hummingbird feeder with improved flower assembly mounting member

A hummingbird feeder is provided that includes a nectar container removably coupled to a feeding basin having at least one feed port therein and a flower assembly fitted within the feed port. The flower assembly includes a flower body and a mounting member fitted in the center of the flower body, the mounting member having an elongated tapered passageway through which hummingbirds can access nectar in the feeding basin. The mounting member also has a semi-conical exterior geometry that facilitates mounting of the flower assembly within the feed port.

Top-fill hummingbird feeder with vented press fit cap

A top-fill hummingbird feeder is provided having a nectar container removably coupled to a feeding basin, the nectar container including a top opening closed by a cap. The cap has a sealing member configured to have an interference press fit with the top opening of the nectar container. The sealing member includes at least one void to allow air passage so that liquid can flow from the nectar container into the feeding basin when the feeder is in use.

Bird feeder with beak detection
11140876 · 2021-10-12 ·

A hummingbird and oriole feeder having a nectar reservoir that allows the beak of a feeding bird to access a nectar access point to the nectar. An optical sensor senses the bird's beak entering the nectar access point. The optical sensor can include an optical transmitter forming a beam of light that is received by an optical receiver. The intrusion of a bird's beak into the nectar access point, which occurs when the bird is feeding on the nectar, interrupts the beam of light, creating a change in an electrical signal. The electrical signal is sent to a processing unit that counts each time a bird's beak penetrates the nectar access point and displays the count on the display unit. The count can be reset to zero by a reset switch. There can be multiple nectar access points, which are each counted, using a multiplexer.
