Bird feeder

Provided herein are bird feeders configured to be positioned on an exterior window sill ledge and readily observed and maintained from the comfort of a home. The bird feeders provided herein can in some embodiments comprise a basin or other container (and optional cover) for holding and/or providing bird seed and/or feed and a compression pad configured to be compressed between a closed window and the window sill to thereby secure the feeder in place on the exterior window sill ledge. In some embodiments adjustable support members can be provided to permit the feeder to be leveled or placed in a substantially level position on an exterior window sill ledge. To refill and/or maintain the feeder a user can access the feeder simply by opening the window from the inside of the home or dwelling.

SMALL SEED CONVERTER FOR BIRD FEEDER

Implementations described and claimed herein provide apparatuses and methods for facilitating filling and cleaning of bird feeders that are aesthetically pleasing and adaptable for attracting different types of birds. In one implementation, a bird feeder includes a port having a surface extending from a proximal end to a distal end. The proximal end has a connecting portion configured to connect to a reservoir. The surface has one or more openings defined therein. A small seed converter is insertable into the port, and the small seed converter includes a plurality of teeth extending from an edge. The plurality of teeth are configured to narrow the one or more openings for dispensing small sized seed.

NECTAR POUCH FOR HUMMINGBIRD FEEDER
20180352787 · 2018-12-13 · ·

A nectar pouch for use with a hummingbird feeder includes a main body forming an interior cavity for containing liquid nectar. A resealable opening in the upper end of the pouch allows the pouch to be sealed with liquid nectar inside for distribution, and to further be attached to a hummingbird feeder for dispersion of the liquid nectar when the pouch is inverted. A tab is hingedly attached to the bottom of the pouch, moveable between an extended position and a folded position. In the extended position the tab allows the nectar pouch and attached hummingbird feeder to be suspended from a structure. When folded, the tab lies flush with the bottom end to allow the pouch to stand upright and to allow the pouch to be package in standard flat bottomed containers while standing upright. Various embodiment of the nectar pouch are shown and described.

Top-fill hummingbird feeder with float valve base closure mechanism

A top-fill hummingbird feeder is provided having a liquid container with a liquid flow opening at a lower end and a removable cap at an upper end, a feeding basin positioned below the liquid container, and a valve or sealing mechanism associated with the liquid flow opening and the feeding basin. The feeding basin includes an upwardly extending cylindrical well that receives the lower end of the liquid container, and the valve or sealing mechanism includes a float valve associated with the well. The feeding basin is filled by gravity feed of the liquid in the container through the liquid flow opening when the sealing mechanism is open. When the feeding basin reaches a full position, the liquid nectar raises the float valve which, in turn, acts to close the liquid flow opening.

A top-fill hummingbird feeder is provided having a liquid container with a liquid flow opening at a lower end and a removable cap at an upper end, a feeding basin positioned below the liquid container, and a sealing mechanism associated with the liquid flow opening and the feeding basin. The sealing mechanism includes a bottle seal assembly configured for removable coupling with a base of the feeding basin, and a float valve captured by said bottle seal assembly to prevent rotation thereof while allowing the float valve to move upwardly and downwardly with changing nectar levels in the feeding basin. The feeding basin is filled by gravity feed of the liquid in the container through the liquid flow opening when the sealing mechanism is open. When the feeding basin reaches a full position, the liquid nectar raises the float valve which, in turn, acts to close the liquid flow opening.

BIRD FEEDER HANGER ASSEMBLY

Implementations described and claimed herein provide apparatuses and methods for facilitating filling and cleaning of bird feeders that are aesthetically pleasing and adaptable for attracting different types of birds. In one implementation, a bird feeder includes a proximal edge extending around a central line and defining a plane. An outer surface and an inner surface each extends distally from the plane. The inner surface is connected to the outer surface by the proximal edge. An opening is formed by the proximal edge and positioned on the plane. A hanger is disposed distal to and not intersecting the plane, and the hanger assembly has a hanging portion positioned on the central line.

A hand held bird feeding assembly includes a container that has a bottom wall and a perimeter wall that is attached to and extends upwardly from the bottom wall. An upper portion of the container distal to the bottom wall tapers inward. An opening extends into a top end of the container. An artificial flower is attached to the container adjacent to the opening. A feeding fluid is placed within the container and can be used to feed a hummingbird from the container as the container is being held.

ORIOLE BIRD FEEDER WITH TAPERED PORT ACCESS CHANNEL AND INTEGRATED PERCH
20180184622 · 2018-07-05 · ·

An Oriole bird feeder having a nectar reservoir with a base and a tapered port, and preferably a tapered port/perch assembly, is provided. The bird feeder allows Orioles and other similarly sized members of the Icterid family of birds to land on the perch and access the nectar in the reservoir base while, due to the diminishing taper of the opening in the tapered port, simultaneously preventing average sized Italian, Carniolan and Caucasian honey bees from entering the reservoir base through the port to obtain the nectar where they subsequently become trapped and perish.

Animal sustenance-dispensing stations described herein may be capable of supplying food or water to animals, of controlling electrical loads that prevent liquid sustenance freeze-up or overheating and other loads that help sanitize the sustenance, that illuminate the station, or that generate sounds; of acquiring and processing data from a variety of sensors both internal and external to the station, and of reporting both raw and processed data. They may also be capable of wirelessly communicating with other stations, or with non-station devices over wireless communication networks to facilitate reporting of sensor and other data, and to support configuration of station controller operational and reporting behavior. Station configurations may facilitate monitoring of video and audio activity of nearby animals, tagged animals visiting the station, weather conditions in the station's vicinity, station food or water supply levels, and other parameters according to the sensors of a given embodiment.
