A cap arranged to interact with a spout. The cap includes a top section, a side wall section attached to the top section and a tamper element attached to the side wall section in a tearing interface. The tearing interface may be provided with a weakening line that is arranged to break when the cap is unscrewed such that the tamper element is separated from the side wall section. The cap further includes at least one resilient cutting element arranged to the side wall. The at least one resilient cutting element is arranged to cut off a membrane of the spout when the cap is unscrewed. The cap is arranged such that the weakening line is arranged to break before the membrane of the spout is cut off when the cap is being unscrewed from the spout.

A polymeric closure assembly includes inner and outer shells. The inner shell includes a top wall portion and a skirt portion. The top wall portion of the inner shell forms a recess and includes ratchet teeth. The outer shell includes a top wall portion and a skirt portion. The top wall portion of the outer shell includes inner and outer portions. The outer portion of the outer shell is detachably connected to the inner portion of the outer shell by frangible connections. The top wall portion of the outer shell includes a retention projection and ratchet teeth. The retention projection is received and contained within the recess to assist in engaging the inner and outer shells after breaking of the frangible connections. The ratchet teeth of the inner and outer shells cooperate to assist in providing torque transfer to assist in threading the polymeric closure assembly and the container.

A cap for a spout of a thin-walled flexible package having a tamper evident seal formed by a plurality of main sections is provided. Each main section of the plurality of main sections has a tooth for engaging a respective fixed ridge of the spout. The tooth radially projects inward and consists of a sharp solid element having a tooth height greater than a height of a remaining part of the main section.
