A child-resistant closure system is provided. The child-resistant closure system includes a container including a neck have a mouth defining an opening into a body of the container. The neck includes a first portion of a closure system including a bayonet container component and a retaining container component Further provided is a closure designed to be secured to the container. The closure includes a second portion of the closure system including a plurality of bayonet closure lugs designed to engage with the bayonet container component and the retaining container component. The closure includes a resilient deformable liner that is retained within the closure and designed to be positioned between a finished edge of the container and at least a portion of an interior portion of the closure when the closure is secured to the container.
