Packages comprising a film surrounding the medical device are described and including a tear-enabling feature and a gripping feature enabling a user to use a finger, a thumb or an end of a tool to apply a sufficient tearing force to cause the tear-enabling feature to tear and move the first end of the package away from the second end of the package using only one hand and to expose the medical device to be accessed for use. Also described are methods of packaging a medical device.

The method including providing a sheet of material in the form of a strip, first folding the sheet of material onto itself to form a first package face and a second package face that oppose each other, a first end portion and a second end portion of the sheet of material extending from the first package face, sealing the sheet of material along opposed longitudinal edges of the sheet of material, fixing the first end portion and the second end portion to each other to form a sealing flap, first defining an opening cut in the sealing flap, the opening cut being defined by both the first end portion and the second end portion, and connecting the sealing flap to the first package face to form the assembled package, the opening cut not being visible or directly accessible on the assembled package.

The package includes first and second layers; a product seal zone where the first layer is joined to the second layer, the product seal zone having an inner perimeter that defines an unsealed pouch area for containing the product and an outer perimeter; and a header zone adjacent to the outer perimeter of the product seal zone. The header zone includes a first tab; a second tab; a first tab-cut in the first layer within an unsealed portion of the header zone; and a second tab-cut in the second layer within the unsealed portion of the header zone. The package, and printed commercial artwork and product information on the package surfaces, may be configured such that the fold noses are disposed at the apparent bottom of the package, for improved standing stability when the package is shelved.

The sidewalls of the first and second layers being sealed together and the bottom edges being partially sealed to form a rupturable seam having an aperture formed therein. The sidewalls, bottom edge, and top edge defining an enclosed interior for stowing a paint applicator. The applicator is stowable within the container by inserting the applicator through the top end and projecting a handle thereof through the aperture. Upon pulling the handle through the aperture, the seam ruptures, thereby allowing the applicator to be removed from the container.
