Heat-seal lid with non-heat sealing layer and hydrophobic overcoat
A lidding film to use in food packaging, or the packaging of suitable non-food products, includes a substrate having an outer major surface on which is disposed at least a 5 heat-sealing layer (HS layer), a non-heat-sealing layer (NTIS layer), and a hydrophobic coating. On a side of the lidding film that corresponds to the outer major surface of the substrate is a peripheral region that encircles a central region. At least a first portion of the HS layer fills the peripheral region, and the NIS layer is absent as a cover on, or does not cover, the HIS layer in the peripheral region. At least a first portion of the NHS layer fills the 10 central region, and the HS layer is absent as a cover on, or does not cover, the NIS layer in the central region.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF STORING PRODUCE
A system and method for storing, shipping, preserving and ripening produce. Packaging of respiring produce, particularly avocados, in sealed tray systems. The tray systems include a lower bowl-shaped tray having an upper lip to which a flexible film is adhered. The flexible film has an aperture covered by a breathable membrane. The film permits passage of water vapor to reduce the chance of mold formation during packaging and shipping. The breathable membrane controls gaseous exchange at different temperatures and has pores that open above the threshold temperature. The breathable membrane alters the O.sub.2 and CO.sub.2 within the tray above the threshold temperature, thus slowing up the ripening process at elevated temperatures.
Packaged Food Product and Method of Producing the Packaged Food Product
A packaged food product includes a container and a food product. The container has a rim and at least one sidewall extending from the rim to a bottom wall. The at least one sidewall and the bottom wall define a storage area, and the food product is retained within the storage area such that the food product is in contact with the at least one sidewall. The at least one sidewall is readily deformable by a hand of a user to reduce a volume of the storage area. Finger engaging recesses are formed in the bottom wall to assist in deforming the container, with reducing the volume of the storage area causing the food product to exit the storage area. The bottom wall of the container includes an integral tool portion for breaking up and/or tenderizing the food product after removal from the storage area. The food product can be a wet cat or dog food.
SINGLE-USE TRAY FOR ADMINISTERING A SPA TREATMENT
A disposable manicure kit includes a single-use plastic tray that presents a plurality of receptacles that are suitable for receiving spa treatment products. The tray presents a generally flat upper surface between and around the receptacles. The tray and its receptacles is sealed by removable covering. The covering has an upper surface for displaying product and product use related indicia. The removable covering is adapted for sealing with the upper surface of the tray in such a manner as to seal each receptacle and isolate the contents of each receptacle from the contents of the other receptacles. A plurality of spa products are deposited separately such that each spa product is disposed in a corresponding one of the plurality of receptacles and then sealed by the removable covering. After removal of the covering, the spa products can be used in a predetermined sequential manner to a series of spa treatments.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING PACKAGING FOR AN ITEM AND PACKAGING
A method for producing packaging for an item and to a packaging for an item is provided. The method provides for the following: providing a container material consisting of a leaf material from a plant; shaping the container material into a three-dimensional packaging container having a container opening and a container edge surrounding the container opening; producing a sealing edge on a top surface of the container edge, wherein the top surface of the container edge is sanded down by sanding; placing an item in the three-dimensional packaging container through the container opening and sealing the container opening by a sealing film, wherein the sealing film is adhesively bonded to the sealing edge in an adhesive-free manner.
SUSTAINABLE BARRER CONTAINERS AND METHODS
In an embodiment, the invention comprises a packaging structure comprising a cap layer which comprises post-consumer resin, at least one additional layer adjacent the first layer which comprises an alloy of: polyethylene terephthalate; a polyolefin; and at least one compatibilizer; a barrier coating adjacent the at least one additional layer and opposite the cap layer, wherein the barrier coating comprises a matrix of polyethyleneimine and polyvinyl alcohol and an overlacquer about the barrier coating. The methods of the invention may include co-extruding the cap layer and an alloy layer to form a co-extrudate; optionally, melt adhering the co-extrudate to another alloy layer to form a melt-adhered sheet; intermixing a solution of polyethyleneimine, polyvinyl alcohol, and water to form a coating; applying the coating to the outermost alloy layer opposite the cap layer; drying the applied coating; applying an overlacquer about the coating; and drying the overlacquer.
CONTAINER FOR FOOD PRODUCTS AND METHOD TO MANUFACTURE IT
A container for food products is defined by a tray (2), which is made of a polymer material, has a bottom wall (3), a side wall (4), and an upper peripheral edge (5), and is provided with a glue layer (16) directly applied on the polymer material of the upper peripheral edge (5) to lock a closing lid (6) on the upper peripheral edge (5).
POUCH, LIDDED CONTAINER, AND TUBE
A first packaging material includes at least one layer located in both a first region and a second region. A second packaging material includes at least one layer located in both the first region and the second region. An outline of a communication part that extends from the hole to the outer edge of the pouch includes a first line and a second line. The communication part includes a first portion and a second portion. The first position includes a portion where the first line and the second line have a spacing from each other that decreases with increasing distance from the outer edge of the pouch toward the hole. The second portion is located between the first portion and the hole, and includes a portion where the first line and the second line have a spacing from each other of less than or equal to 2.0 mm.
CONTAINERS FOR PARTICULATE MATERIALS
Containers for holding particulate materials are provided. The containers may be formed from molded pulp. The containers may included molded pulp shaped or threaded features formed integrally on the container that may aid in providing closure to the device. The containers may optionally include a fitment and/or liner, or may be free of fitments and liners. The containers may optionally have inner load bearing members. The containers may be stackable
Ventilated container apparatus
A container apparatus having at least one containment member is disclosed that may include a bottom and at least one sidewall, an interior and an open end. The container may also include a flange that extends around a free end of the at least one side wall, and a plurality of wall members (or castellations) connected to/formed with/that extend from the flange. The plurality of wall members may be separated by ventilation apertures, with the plurality of wall members and the ventilation apertures extending around the perimeter of the free end. A sealing material, such as a removable film, may extend over the open end to enclose the containment member.
