Process and method for optimizing production of food and feed
A process includes microbially degrading harvested polyculture plant material to form a concentrated microbial biomass and providing the concentrated microbial biomass to an intermediary animal for consumption. The process may also be directed to producing a product animal which includes providing a growth area having an outlet for waste and providing a harvested plant material collection area having an outlet for degradation products. The process may also include providing a microbial growth system for producing a bacterial biomass and directing at least some waste from the outlet of the product animal growth area to the harvested plant material collection area. The process may also include directing at least some degradation products to the microbial growth system, directing some of the microbial biomass produced in the microbial growth system to an intermediary animal for consumption, and directing the intermediary animal to a product animal growth area.

AQUAPONIC UNIT
An agricultural unit and use thereof relates to: a tank system adapted to provide a combined aquatic environment for raising aquatic animals in aquaculture and cultivating plants in hydroponic culture, whereby excretions of the aquatic animals are released directly into the aquatic environment so as to produce nutrients for the plants; and an electrochemical device; wherein the electrochemical device is operable in an electrolysis mode to produce hydrogen and oxygen while consuming electrical energy provided by a source of electrical energy; wherein the electrochemical device is further operable in a fuel cell mode to produce electrical energy and heat by oxidizing the produced hydrogen; and wherein the electrochemical device is operatively coupled to the tank system so as to transfer at least part of the produced heat and the produced oxygen to the aquatic environment.

APPARATUS FOR SHELLFISH AQUACULTURE
A pneumatically controlled shellfish aquaculture apparatus and method for growing shellfish using the apparatus are provided. A frame has containers for holding shellfish secured to the top side of the frame and tanks secured to the bottom side of the frame. Each tank has an air supply line connected to the tank and an opening on the bottom side of the tank. Each air supply line is connected to a manifold for controlling airflow to the tanks. Air is used to displace water in the tanks by pushing the water out of the openings in the bottom of the tanks in order to float the frame. To submerge the frame, the tanks are depressurized to allow water to displace the air in the tanks. When floating, the tanks lift the frame and the containers out of the water to allow air desiccation in order to prevent bio-fouling of the equipment and shellfish.

Systems and methods for the cultivation of target product
Systems and methods for cultivating or accumulating climate-focused marine target products are described herein. The target product may be microalgae, macroalgae, plankton, marine bacteria or archaea, filter feeders (such as oysters or clams), or crustaceans either for the purpose of bioremediation, eventual cultivation or for sequestering carbon dioxide; or the target product may be direct chemical or biological accumulation of carbon or carbon containing organisms. The system is primarily a floating apparatus designed to hold the target product in a region of the water column and in a spatial region of the water where it will best accumulate target product mass. In some embodiments the system is designed to achieve eventual passive sinking (transformation from a floating to sinking apparatus) into the deep ocean. In some embodiments, the system is equipped with purpose-chosen sensors to instrument and quantify the various biological and mechanical processes occurring onboard.
