SHIPPING CONTAINERS FOR BATTERIES
20220009695 · 2022-01-13 ·

Shipping containers for batteries are described herein. An example shipping container includes a base defining a cavity, a lid to be coupled to a top of the base to substantially seal the cavity, and an absorbent pad disposed within the cavity to absorb liquid from the battery if the battery leaks.

COMPOSTABLE FOOD PACKAGING SYSTEM AND METHOD
20220009696 · 2022-01-13 ·

A compostable packaging system for seaweed snacks and other brittle food products and methods for making and utilizing the same. The compostable packaging system can include a support apparatus and a moisture-absorbing apparatus. The support apparatus and the moisture-absorbing apparatus with at least one food product can be disposed within a container, which is then sealed. The support apparatus can help to prevent the food product from breaking or other damage; whereas, the moisture-absorbing apparatus can absorb any moisture within the sealed container and otherwise help to maintain the food product in a dry and otherwise viable condition. The compostable packaging system advantageously can be fully compostable or otherwise biodegradable and thereby can result in zero waste.

Humidity-management packaging systems and methods

Packaging systems and methods are disclosed for storing a bioprosthetic device comprising a bioprosthetic tissue and maintaining a target relative humidity across a temperature range. The packaging system includes a sealed package defining an internal space having an internal volume, and a humidity control device and bioprosthetic device within the internal space. The humidity control device includes a barrier defining an enclosed space and a humidity control solution comprising glycerol in the enclosed space. At least a portion of the barrier comprises a gas-permeable membrane. The target relative humidity is provided within the internal volume of the sealed package and the control device maintains the target relative humidity across the temperature range by selectively liberating and absorbing water vapor.

Puncture elements and methods for using the same are disclosed. The puncture elements according to the disclosed concept include a cutting edge or a sharp and are composed of a mineral loaded polymer. The minerals of the mineral loaded polymer include an active agent, such as a desiccant. Optionally, the puncture elements are used to puncture a cover (e.g., foil seal) of a package.

FLUID RETAINING SUBSTRATE
20230322464 · 2023-10-12 ·

The invention concerns a substrate for increased retention capacity of fluids, ideally for use in or as part of a packaging tray, wherein said substrate comprises a plurality of wells provided therein; and a packaging tray comprising said substrate.

CONTAMINANT-RESISTANT PACKAGING
20230312217 · 2023-10-05 ·

Contaminant-resistant packaging, conduits, and methods of the present disclosure are generally directed to reducing the likelihood of contaminant infiltration into packaging used to store and ultimately dispense material. More specifically, a conduit that is used to dispense the material from the packaging may include a contaminant barrier that, together with respective contaminant barriers along other portions of the packaging, significantly reduces the likelihood of contaminant (e.g., oxygen and/or moisture) permeation into the material in the contaminant-resistant packaging.

FOLDABLE CASSETTE BAGS FOR TRANSPORTING BIOMATERIALS
20230227209 · 2023-07-20 · ·

An envelope is configured to hold, support, and protect an article such as a blood bag during transportation under cryogenic temperatures. The envelope includes a single piece component (e.g., a monolithic component), including multiple panels that are configured to fold to form an enclosure that surrounds the article such as the blood bag for support and protection of the article such as the blood bag.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LINING A CAN
20230137624 · 2023-05-04 ·

A liner comprising a first section and a second section being joined along at least three edges and a fourth edge of the first section and the second section defining an opening of the liner. A liner having a drawstring wherein a first channel can be sealed around the drawstring and proximal to the opening of the first section and the second section. An elastic band wherein the second channel can be sealed around the elastic band and substantially below the drawstring and proximal to the opening of the first section and second section. A pad wherein the pad can substantially line at least one edge of the liner. The liner can be sized to fit a standard bedpan, commode, or trashcan. The liner can be generally circular or rectangular. The liner limits the opportunities for potential cross-contamination with surfaces or other people and removes the need to clean the bedpan while still maintaining sanitary conditions.

Absorbent fluff and tissue laminate pads for food packaging

An absorbent pad has: a first, outer layer comprising a permeable or non-permeable film; a second, outer layer comprising a permeable or non-permeable film, placed on a side of the pad opposite the first, outer layer; a third layer disposed between the first layer and the second layer, and comprising a tissue laminate comprising at least a first ply and a second ply, with at least one chemical agent or system fixed in the third layer and being either activated by contact with or soluble in an aqueous liquid, the at least one chemical agent or system being in a predetermined amount distributed substantially uniformly per unit area of the surface area between the at least first ply and second ply: and a fourth layer disposed between the first layer and the second layer and comprising fluff, with or without a chemical agent or system, the third layer being joined to the fourth layer to serve as a substrate for the fourth layer.
