MICROWAVE ACTIVE PACKAGING FOR SELECTIVE HEATING OF CONTENTS

Frozen desserts contained in a microwave active packaging are disclosed. In some embodiments, the microwave active packaging includes a microwave active layer configured to selectively heat the contents of the microwave active packaging. The contents may include a first layer of frozen food, and one or more additional topping layers. When placed into a microwave, the microwave active layer causes the one or more additional topping layers to heat, while the first layer is maintained at or below a freezing temperature. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Packaging, in particular pre-packaging, for food, comprising a side part. The side part encloses a receiving space for food, and a bottom part. The bottom part is connected to the side part. The connection between the side part and the bottom part includes, at least partially, a releasable connection. The connection between the side part and the bottom part includes, at least partially, a permanent connection. The permanent connection is at least partially movable. The at least partially movable configuration of the permanent connection allows a hinge effect between the side part and the bottom part. The bottom part can be folded down after an at least partially release of the releasable connection.

The inner lining also includes an edge section which forms an edge flange extending over top edges of the frame part and a package lid which is arranged to be fastened to said flange.

After heating the container, the non-sticky after heated lacquer layer is softened and does not adhere to the second less adhesive area to form an exit for releasing both steam and pressure.

A peelable package is described. The package comprises a first sealant layer comprising low density polyethylene and a first contaminant and a second sealant layer comprising polyethylene polymer, such as high-density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, ethylene alpha-olefin copolymer or blends of such, and a second contaminant. The first contaminant and the second contaminant are selected from the group consisting propylene/ethylene copolymer with ethylene content from about 0.1 mol % to about 5 mol %, polypropylene homopolymer, butene/ethylene copolymer and polybutene homopolymer. The first contaminant of the first sealant layer may be the same as or different than the second contaminant of the second sealant layer. Also described are various embodiments of the first sealant layer, the second sealant layer and the peelable seal that is formed between the first sealant layer and the second sealant layer.
