COMPOSTABLE TOP LID STRUCTURE FOR A BEVERAGE PREPARATION CAPSULE
The invention relates to a capsule (100) for preparing a beverage in a beverage production machine. The capsule (100) comprises a capsule body (200) with a sidewall (210) delimiting a chamber (250) for containing a substance (500) for the preparation of the beverage and an injection wall (220) for injecting a fluid in the chamber (250) for preparing the beverage upon interaction of the fluid with the substance (500). The capsule (100) further comprises a delivery wall (300) that is connected to the capsule body (200) to close the chamber (250). The delivery wall (300) comprises, in a layered manner, a retention layer (320) for being opened upon interaction with opening elements under the effect of rising pressure of fluid being injected into the capsule (100) and a filter layer (310) for filtering out particles from the prepared beverage. Each of the filter layer (310) and the retention layer (320) is made of biodegradable material. The filter layer (310) is provided opposite to the chamber (250) with respect to the retention layer (320). The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing the capsule (100) and use of the capsule (100) for preparing a beverage.
REINFORCEMENT RING FOR CAPSULES FOR OBTAINING BEVERAGES
A reinforcement ring for capsules for obtaining beverages, for example coffee, comprising a side wall and a flat surface, preferably having a uniform thickness, protruding from the side wall. The reinforcement ring is characterized in that the side wall comprises a groove at the extremity opposite the flat surface, so as to reduce the thickness of the side wall at the extremity and to reduce the total amount of material used to produce the reinforcement ring. The reinforcement ring can be used to reinforce the body of a capsule for obtaining beverages for example made of a filtering material. A machine for welding the reinforcement ring to the capsule body and to a system for producing beverages comprising a container into which the capsule with the reinforcement ring is inserted during the step of supplying pressurized water.

Capsule system seatable within a cartridge for a beverage machine
An improved beverage cartridge is provided for use in forming a beverage in a beverage machine that provides a pressurized liquid. The cartridge includes a container having an interior space, a lid that accommodates an inflow of the pressurized liquid, and a filter arranged to contain a beverage medium arranged to interact with a liquid to form the beverage. The cartridge also includes annular disc shaped capsule configured for placement within the container. The capsule has a hollow interior chamber that contains a beverage medium and an open bottom that is sealed closed by a membrane. The membrane is configured to selectively provide fluid communication between the space inside the container and the chamber allowing liquid introduced into the container to flow into the capsule's chamber. The membrane is also pierceable by the beverage machine to accommodate an outflow of the liquid flowing into the capsule.

The invention relates to a disposable cartridge filled with a single serve portion of a liquid ingredient to be combined with a base liquid for the preparation of a liquid product, e.g. a beverage concentrate to be combined with water, e.g. carbonated water, for the preparation of a beverage suitable for human consumption. The cartridge comprises a vertically extending channel that extends to a dispensing aperture in the bottom of the cartridge and one or more dispensing passages extending between a reservoir and the outside of the cartridge. The dispensing passages are provided with outlet openings located adjacent the aperture such that the base liquid and the liquid ingredient are dispensed in parallel flows, the liquid ingredient subsequently coating the exterior of the stream of base liquid, such that actual mixing of the liquid ingredient and base liquid only takes place after both have been dispensed.

Capsule containing a substance for the preparation of a potable beverage, the capsule having an aluminum capsule body having a side wall and an outwardly extending flange and a sealing member at the outwardly extending flange for providing a fluid sealing contact with an enclosing member of a beverage preparation device. The beverage preparation device comprises an annular element having a free contact end which may be provided with a plurality of radially extending open grooves. The sealing member is integral with the outwardly extending flange and comprises a projection. The sealing member comprises a single annular projection comprising a projection top projecting from an inner projection foot radially outside of a flat inner flange portion extending between the capsule body side wall and the projection and an outer projection foot radially inside of a flat outer flange portion extending between the projection and the curled outer edge. The flat outer flange portion is axially spaced from the flat inner flange portion towards the bottom of the capsule body or the flat outer flange portion and the flat inner flange portion are in line the flat outer flange portion and the flat inner flange portion are in line and a radially outer wall of said projection is oriented transverse to the flat outer flange portion.
