Bulk container having steel overpack

A fire-safe container includes a polymer polymeric IBC within a metal overpack. The metal overpack includes a manway surrounding a plurality of ports. Each port is on a projection form the polymeric IBC that extends into the manway through an aperture. A collar is disposed in each aperture between the projection of the polymeric IBC and the sides of the aperture such that the port is retained in the manway and preventing the port from contacting or collapsing through the aperture. The manway includes a burst disc to release pressure when there is pressure buildup. One of the ports can provide another burst disc to relieve pressure in the polymeric IBC. The polymeric IBC burst disc can release at a pressure that is greater than the pressure at which the manway burst disc releases.

A reverse-acting rupture disc (10) having a laser-defined reversal initiation feature (16) is provided in the bulged section (12) of the disc. The reversal initiation feature comprises at least a first lased area (22) that has a reduced thickness relative to rest of the bulged section. A second lased area (24) may also be provided within the margins of the first lased area. The second lased area has a depth that is greater than the depth of the first lased area. A line of weakness (40) may be formed in the bulged section that functions to direct reversal of the bulged section toward a particular area of the disc, such as line-of-opening recess (56).

Flameless venting system

The disclosure relates to a flameless venting system, along with associated devices and methods. In one aspect, the disclosure is directed to a flameless venting system having a curved flange, which may allow the system to mount directly to the curved surface of a vessel. In another aspect, a disclosed flameless venting system has a curved filter exit. In still another aspect, a disclosed flameless venting system may be configured such that a flame-arresting quenching body component may be joined to a vessel prior to installation of an explosion panel component. In addition, a quenching body component may be configured to provide access to its interior, to facilitate inspection, replacement, or maintenance of an explosion panel contained therein.
