A spout includes a mounting portion to which a pouch of a container assembly is sealed. The exterior of the mounting portion is defined by a smooth, non-angled surface free of edges or sharp transition portions, and is defined along its height by a generally sinusoidal, wave-like pattern formed by alternating peaks and troughs. The exterior of the mounting portion is structured such that the ratio of the length of the portion of the mounting portion exterior surface extending between adjacent peaks to the height between adjacent peaks is minimized to no more than 10%, and more preferably no more than 5%. By minimizing this ratio, the amount that a pouch will stretch if it is pushed into the cavities formed between adjacent peaks of the mounting portion (e.g. during an HPP process) is minimized, thereby preventing damage to the pouch and/or attachment between the pouch and spout.

The cap includes a generally tubular shape with an annular wall extending circumferentially about an exterior surface of the tubular shape, a central plug portion, and multiple flow openings surrounding the central plug portion. The cap is slidably coupled to the fitment and is configured to be actuated between a first position and a second position through an application of force to the annular wall.

A squeezable container is disclosed for holding and dispensing a flowable product like yogurt. The container generally includes a flexible and collapsible pouch body having an internal space for storing the flowable product, an external spout fitment attached to the outside of the dispensing end of the pouch body and through which the product can be dispensed, and a cap on the spout fitment, which can be opened by the user to dispense the product and closed to reseal the container. The cap includes a self-closing valve, and is configured to support the container in a cap-down orientation.

The present disclosure provides a fitment. In an embodiment, the fitment includes a top portion, a base, and a channel extending through the top portion and the base for passage of a flowable material. The fitment is composed of a polymeric composition. The polymeric composition comprises: (i) from 60 weight % to 90 weight % of a propylene-based polymer having a density of 0.900 g/cc and a melt flow rate greater than 10.0 g/10 min; and (ii) from 40 weight % to 10 weight % of a propylene-based plastomer or elastomer (PBPE) having a density less than 0.900 g/cc, and a melt flow rate (MFR) from 5 g/10 min to 30 g/10 min. The present disclosure also provides a process for sealing multilayer films to the base of the fitment and the resultant flexible container formed from the process.

BAG CLOSURE AND CONTAINER SYSTEM FOR MEDICAL LIQUIDS INCORPORATING SAME

A bag closure and a container system incorporating the bag closure, are provided. The container system can be used for preparing and holding medical liquids such as peritoneal dialysis solutions. The bag closure can be in the form of an assembly of a bag connector made of a first material, and a nozzle made of a different material. By using two different materials, bonding of the bag closure to a bag of a first material and to a tube of a second, different material, can be facilitated. Alternatively, the bag closure can be of a one-piece, monolithic construction made from a singular material. Methods of making the bag closure and the container system are also provided.
