The device includes: a waste bag suspension member formed with an upper portion around which an opening of a flexible waste bag may be spanned; a lid movable between an open position, wherein waste may be added to a waste bag through the upper portion of the waste bag suspension member, and a closed position, wherein the lid covers the upper portion of the waste bag suspension member so that an at least partially closed volume may be formed between the lid and the waste bag; and a suction member adapted to evacuate air from the at least partially closed volume. The lid is perforated so that the suction device may evacuate the air through the perforation(s) in the lid. There is also disclosed a system for compressing waste as well as a method for operating the system.

A wastebasket liner is configured to attach to an inner surface of a wastebasket so that the liner does not show conspicuously above a top rim of the wastebasket. The liner has an adhesive layer disposed on its outer surface at or adjacent a top edge of the liner so that the liner can be adhered in place within the wastebasket. One or more pull members are provided to assist in removing the liner from the wastebasket. Such pull member can be bonded to the liner, and has a free portion that is configured to be grasped by a user so that the user can easily pull on the liner to detach the adhesive from the wastebasket and remove the liner from the wastebasket.

Various embodiments of a trash can assembly (e.g., a receptacle configured to receive refuse, recycleable materials, or otherwise), and related methods, are provided. Some embodiments of the trash can assembly include a body component and a lid configured to move between an open position and a closed position. In some variants, the lid can be moved between the open and closed positions by a power operated driving mechanism, such as a motor and/or other drivetrain components. In certain embodiments, the trash can assembly includes a clutch mechanism to facilitate manual operation of the lid while inhibiting or preventing damage to the motor and/or other drivetrain components.
