A refuse vehicle includes a body defining a storage compartment, a packer, a hydraulic system, a pressure sensor, and a controller. The hydraulic system includes a first pump and a second pump are configured to supply fluid power to a packer actuator. The packer actuator is coupled to the packer and the body and is positioned to move the packer to compact refuse within the storage compartment. The pressure sensor indicates a measured pressure a first fluid associated with the first pump or a second fluid associated with the second pump. The controller is configured to control the hydraulic system to supply fluid power to the packer actuator to move the packer. The controller is further configured to determine that (a) one or more other vehicle functions are active or (b) the measured pressure exceeds a threshold pressure. The controller is further configured to reduce the fluid power supplied to the packer actuator in response to the determination.

Extendable lift arm assembly for a front end loading refuse vehicle

A vehicle includes a chassis, a body coupled to the chassis, and a lift assembly coupled to at least one of the chassis or the body. The lift assembly includes a first lift arm and a second lift arm. The first lift arm includes a first arm portion, a second arm portion interfacing with the first arm portion, a first actuator positioned to facilitate repositioning the second arm portion relative to the first arm portion, and a second actuator positioned to pivot the first arm portion. The second lift arm includes a third arm portion, a fourth arm portion interfacing with the third arm portion, a third actuator positioned to facilitate repositioning the fourth arm portion relative to the third arm portion, and a fourth actuator positioned to pivot the second arm portion.

A content collection system and method for curbside collecting of multiple segregated recycled material streams stored in a product storage container. The product storage container can include a compartment and a door associated with the compartment. A product collection interface is associated with a product collection vehicle, and is configured to engage with any configuration of product storage container. A product transfer module is associated with the product collection interface and is configured to receive content from the product storage container. The product transfer module includes weight sensors to calculate the weight of content in the product transfer module. A release mechanism is configured to discharge the content from the product transfer module to a bulk product holding unit associated with the vehicle. Software application can be utilized to request collection and/to receive collection data. Computer systems can be utilized to control operations of the system.

EJECTOR FOR REFUSE VEHICLE

A refuse vehicle includes a cab and a body assembly disposed behind the cab. The body assembly includes an ejector and a body at least partially defining a hopper volume and a storage volume. The ejector includes a wall at least partially defining an opening and a coupling pivotally and fixedly coupling a panel to the wall. The wall is movable within the storage volume between a frontmost position and a rearmost position. The panel extends at least partially across the opening when in a closed position. The panel is angularly offset relative to the closed position when in the open position. The ejector is configured to fully eject refuse from the storage volume when the wall is in the rearmost position. The hopper volume extends between the wall and the cab when the wall is in the frontmost position.

Systems and method for interrogating, publishing and analyzing information related to a waste hauling vehicle

A system and method for verifying waste fulfillment events in the absence of human intervention using the input of one or more vehicle sensor inputs, one or more waste disposal cycle inputs, and GPS information to augment or supplement optical scanning technology such as RFID tags is disclosed.

Loading Apparatuses and Vehicles That Include a Loading Apparatus
20220135322 · 2022-05-05 ·

Example loading apparatuses and vehicles that include loading apparatus are described. An example loading apparatus includes a frame, a lift arm, and an anchor member. The frame has a first mounting member, a second mounting member, a first guide rail, and a second guide rail. The first and second guide rails cooperatively define a slot. The lift arm has a lift arm first end, a lift arm second end, a lift arm first portion, and a lift arm second portion. The lift arm first portion is partially disposed within the slot. Each of the lift arm first portion and the lift arm second portion is moveable between a loading position and a dumping position. The anchor member is attached to the lift arm such that the lift arm is pivotable relative to the anchor member and moveable within the slot.

Automatic control of a refuse front end loader

An automatic control system for a refuse vehicle includes a mode select switch disposed within the vehicle that generates a mode select signal based on input from an operator of the vehicle, a control mechanism disposed within the vehicle that operates in response to the mode select signal, and a plurality of sensors adapted to sense a plurality of characteristics of the vehicle and adapted to communicate the plurality of sensed characteristics. The system further includes a control module that receives control instructions from the control mechanism and selectively controls at least one component of a plurality of components of the vehicle based on the mode select signal, at least one of the plurality of sensed characteristics, and the control instructions.

CARRY CAN FOR REFUSE VEHICLE

A carry can includes a container and a collection arm coupled to the container. The container defines a refuse compartment. The container includes a base and a container wall extending around a periphery of the base. A side of the container wall and the base define a recess. The collection arm includes an extension mechanism and a refuse container engagement mechanism configured to engage with a refuse container. The extension arm mechanism includes an extendable arm positioned beneath the container wall and extending laterally through the base, a chain or a rack disposed along the extendable arm, a rotational actuator positioned within the recess, and a pinion coupled to the rotational actuator. The pinion is positioned to interface with the chain or the rack disposed along the extendable arm. The pinion is selectively driven by the rotational actuator to facilitate extending the extendable arm laterally outward from the side and the recess.

Method and apparatus for monitoring waste removal and administration

A method for a municipality to control, track, and monitor waste or refuse receptacles requires a permit for use of a waste receptacle. An issuing organization issues a permit associated with a discreet receptacle identifier. An RFID tag is provided with the permit and attached to a discreet receptacle. The RFID tag transmits a signal carrying data associated with the discreet receptacle identifier. The signal may be read by a portable reader carried by municipal personnel to record violations of municipal code associated with the use of the discreet receptacle.
