HYDRAULIC CYLINDER MONITORING

A refuse collection vehicle has various hydraulic actuators including at least one cylinder with an internal seal. A sensor is responsive to movement of the piston and sends a signal to a controller to indicate piston movement information during an associated vehicle body component movement. The controller is configured to determine a motion characteristic of the piston during a predetermined body component movement, compare the determined motion characteristic to a stored reference motion characteristic, and in response to determining that a difference between the determined motion characteristic and the reference motion characteristic is greater than a predetermined value, trigger an indication that the refuse collection vehicle is in need of service.

LIFT ARM ASSEMBLY FOR A FRONT END LOADING REFUSE VEHICLE

A refuse vehicle includes a chassis, a body, a cab, a lift assembly coupled to the chassis and/or the body, and a control system. The lift assembly includes a first arm, a second arm, an implement coupled to the first arm and the second arm, and an actuator positioned to pivot the first arm and the second arm to facilitate repositioning the implement between a plurality of positions. The control system is configured to (i) control a user interface to provide an indication of a current position of the lift assembly, (ii) automatically reposition the lift assembly without requiring operator intervention to accommodate a low clearance environment, and/or (iii) limit a speed of the refuse vehicle in response to the current position not being a transit position.

ELECTRIC POWER TAKE-OFF PUMP CONTROL SYSTEMS

A refuse vehicle includes a chassis, an energy storage device, a vehicle body, an electric power take-off system, and a hydraulic component. The energy storage device is supported by the chassis and is configured to provide electrical power to a prime mover. Activation of the prime mover selectively drives the refuse vehicle. The vehicle body is supported by the chassis, and includes an on-board receptacle for storing refuse therein. The electric power take-off system is positioned on the vehicle body, and includes an electric motor configured to drive a hydraulic pump to convert electrical power received from the energy storage device into hydraulic power. An amount of electrical power at least one of received by and provided to the electric motor is limited by a controller to control an output characteristic of the hydraulic pump. The hydraulic component is in fluid communication with the hydraulic pump and configured to operate using hydraulic power from the electric power take-off system.

Auxiliary power system for electric refuse vehicle

A refuse vehicle including a chassis, a body assembly coupled to the chassis, the body assembly defining a refuse compartment, an electric energy system, an auxiliary power system comprising a reservoir to hold a hydraulic fluid, and a hydraulic pump powered by an electric motor, wherein the electric motor is powered by the electric energy system and the hydraulic pump pressurizes the hydraulic fluid to power one or more actuators, and wherein a prime mover of the refuse vehicle charges the electric energy system.

Automated container handling system for refuse collection vehicles

A fully automated container handling system for a refuse vehicle is provided that utilizes a vehicle-includes an extending, pivoting arm with a base equipped with a converging grabber to seize and empty the container. The base that grabs the container includes a sonar transducer that functions with a hydraulic system that operates the arm and grabber using a programmable mounted video camera which feeds video to a cab-mounted monitor to inform a driver of the location of a container of interest enabling accurate alignment of the vehicle. The system is operated by a single button in the cab and logic controller (PLC) computer program to run the hydraulic controls.

Multi-Use Garbage Truck

A multi-use garbage truck has an ability to not only to front load containers of garbage into a hopper in a refuse collection body, but also an ability to swap out the forks, if not arm connection assemblies, or even entire frame arms, to be replaced with one of a plurality of attachments which connect to at least one, if not both frame arms with attachments for various uses such as snow plow, leaf blower, street sweeper, bucket, grapple, etc. Furthermore, an ability to independently operate the left frame arm relative to the right frame arm can now be provided so that the left frame arm can utilize and perform one function and the right frame arm provide another or at least be independently operable from one another.
