The lifting frame includes a first rechargeable power supply for supplying energy to the gripper elements. The container handling vehicle has at least one second rechargeable power supply configured to charging the first rechargeable power supply when the lifting frame is in a top most position. The at least one second rechargeable power supply is connected to at least one upper charger connector and the first rechargeable power supply is connected to at least one lower charger connector. The at least one lower charger connector is attached to the upper side of the horizontal lifting frame and is connected to the first rechargeable power supply.

The system comprises a conveying system for the board pieces in association with at least one robotic arm and accumulating rows. The system may further comprise side rows for additional storing of board pieces. With the help of stopping systems, board pieces of the conveyor are assembled into stacks of predetermined length by the at least one robotic arm on the accumulating rows before being sent to an outfeed section. A method is further provided, the method analyzing the presence of board pieces on a conveyor, stopping gates and a reserve in order to complete stacks of rows of predetermined length on sorting boxes. The method makes the use of a robotic arm for the manipulation and displacement of board pieces.

Method and apparatus for retrieving units from a storage system

A load handling device is disclosed for retrieving, transporting, and delivering containers in a storage system having a grid structure formed of two substantially perpendicular sets of rails or tracks located above stacks of containers. An exemplary load handling device can include a wheel assembly, a container receiving space, and a plurality of vehicle modules. The wheel assembly can include a first set of wheels to guide movement of the load handing device in a first direction and a second set of wheels to guide movement of the load handing device in a second direction. Each of the vehicle modules can include a container lifting means arranged to lift a container into the container receiving space and each of the vehicle modules can be moveable to adjust the spacing of the containers in the load handling device.
