An object of the present invention is to provide a fishing reel configured to suppress formation of a dead space on the outer circumferential side of an anti-reverse device and thus reduced in size. The fishing reel includes a reel body, a drive shaft caused to rotate by an operation of a handle, an anti-reverse device interposed between the reel body and the drive shaft, and a cylinder-shaped cylindrical member disposed on an outer circumferential side of the anti-reverse device. A switching control member of the anti-reverse device and the cylindrical member are engaged with each other, and a swiveling operation of the cylindrical member causes the drive shaft to switch to an anti-reverse state or a reversible state.

A fishing reel with a line transfer mechanism is provided. The line transfer mechanism includes a line transfer arm that toggles over a spool for selectively transferring a fishing line between a cast mode and a retrieve mode. A first end of the line transfer arm is pivoted to a reel body of the fishing reel. An eye member is disposed on the line transfer arm for passing the fishing line from and to the spool. The eye member is disposed substantially perpendicular to a direction of the fishing line in the cast and retrieve modes. An angled bend configured proximal to one or both of the first end and a second end of the line transfer arm allows the eye member to be disposed proximal to the fishing reel in the cast and retrieve modes while maintaining the eye member substantially perpendicular to the direction of the fishing line.

Fishing reel and magnetic seal device therefor

A fishing reel that includes a reel body, a housing part that defines an opening part, a driving member that includes a pinion that is supported by the reel body and extends through the opening part of the housing part, and a magnetic seal device affixed to the housing part that includes a central opening through which the pinion extends. The magnetic seal device includes first and second magnetic plates that maintain a magnet therebetween and a magnetic fluid that is maintained at a gap between the driving member and at least one of the first and second magnetic plates.

A spinning reel includes a rotation transmission mechanism that transmits a rotation of a handle to a rotor. The rotation transmission mechanism includes a drive shaft and a drive gear. The drive shaft is mounted to the reel unit so as to be rotatable about an axis arranged skew to the spool shaft. The drive gear is mounted to the drive shaft so as to be unitarily rotatable therewith. The spinning reel includes a rotation control mechanism mounted between the handle and the drive shaft. The rotation control mechanism transmits the rotation of the handle to the drive shaft only when the handle is rotated in a direction corresponding to the fishing-line winding direction. The rotation control mechanism includes a handle brake that applies a braking force to the rotation of the handle when the handle is rotated in a reverse direction relative to the direction.

A line reel apparatus includes an apparatus housing having a fixed housing portion and a rotating housing portion adjacent to the fixed housing portion. A pin magnet is provided on the rotating housing portion. A drive mechanism drivingly engages the rotating housing portion for rotation. A catch pin housing is disposed for rotation in the rotating housing portion. A line annulus is formed between the catch pin housing and the rotating housing portion. A catch pin cavity is provided in the catch pin housing. The catch pin cavity is disposed in aligned or registering relationship to the pin magnet along a longitudinal axis of the rotating housing portion. A magnetic catch pin is disposed in the catch pin cavity and positional between a retracted position clearing the line annulus and an extended position spanning the line annulus upon alignment of the pin magnet with the catch pin cavity responsive to rotation of the rotating housing portion. A bias mechanism biases the catch pin in the retracted position in the catch pin cavity. A spool is provided in the rotating housing portion and a line is wound on the spool and extends through the line annulus from the rotating housing portion.
