The present invention relates to a method for removing a rod-like element from a loading position of a hanging line in which the rod-like element can successively be loaded with sausage-shaped products, each of which contain a flowable filling material in a tubular or bag-shaped packaging casing provided with a suspension element through which the sausage-shaped products can be suspended on the rod-like element in the loading position. The method comprises the steps of feeding successively sausage-shaped products to a take-up position of the hanging line at a basic feeding speed, taking up one sausage-shaped product being positioned in the take-up position, by one of several transportation elements of a transport device of the hanging line, the transportation elements circulating along a circulation path at a basic transportation speed, loading by the transportation elements a predefined number of sausage-shaped products on the rod-like element being positioned in the loading position by the transportation elements, and replacing the loaded rod-like element by an empty rod-like element after the final sausage-shaped product has been suspended on said rod-like element. The method further comprises the steps of varying the basic transportation speed of the transport device or the basic feeding speed, or both, after the final sausage-shaped product to be stored on the rod-like element, has been picked up by a transportation element, such that the subsequent transportation element remains empty, and setting back the varied transportation speed and/or the varied feeding speed to the basic transportation speed and/or the basic feeding speed during loading of the subsequent rod-like element.

A moving mechanism moves a swing suppression unit in a traveling direction between an advanced position contacting a FOUP and a retracted position away from the FOUP by a drive of a drive unit. A buffer mechanism that allows the swing suppression unit that has been moved to the advanced position by the drive of the drive unit to move to the traveling direction after stopping the drive of the drive unit. The buffer mechanism includes a first coupling portion and a rod-shaped portion coupled to the swing suppression unit to perform a movement of an operation amount in accordance with an amount of movement of the swing suppression unit to a second position direction, a first bias portion that biases the first coupling portion and the rod-shaped portion so that the swing suppression unit presses the FOUP, and a second bias portion that acts on the first coupling portion and the rod-shaped portion when the operation amount of the first coupling portion and the rod-shaped portion is greater than a predetermined amount and that biases the first coupling portion and the rod-shaped portion so that the swing suppression unit presses the FOUP.

Inverted carrier lift device system and method

An inverted carrier lift and method is disclosed. The inverted carrier lift includes a trolley movable along an overhead conveyor and a carrier for supporting a workpiece to undergo an assembly or manufacturing process. The carrier is movable relative to the trolley from a raised position to a lowered position by a motor engaged with a lifting mechanism on the trolley. On rotation of the motor, the carrier and supported workpiece is lowered or raised to position the workpiece in the workstation for processing. The workpiece may be disengaged by the carrier for support of the workpiece by one of many different fixtures depending on the processing. Following processing, the workpiece is re-engaged by the carrier, moved to a raised position and the trolley is transferred to a subsequent workstation.

Order fulfillment system and method with sortation at induct

An order fulfillment system and method includes a data base that is adapted to store data defining a plurality of customer orders. Each of the customer orders is a single item order having only one particular inventory item assigned to that order or a multiple item order having multiple particular inventory items assigned to that order. An inventory area stores inventory items that are available for fulfilling customer orders, and is responsive to said data base to retrieve particular inventory items from said inventory area that are assigned to customer orders in order to fulfill those orders. A sortation system combines particular inventory items together that make up an order. The sortation system has an automated induct subsystem and a sorter. The induct subsystem receives inventory items from the inventory area and forwards, in responsive to the data base, particular inventory items assigned to multiple-items orders to the sorter to be combined together to make up the multiple-item orders, but not particular inventory items assigned to single item orders. The sorter includes a pouch sorter having individual pouches and an overhead conveyor with tracts that route individual pouches to various destinations. The induct subsystem places a particular inventory item assigned to a multiple item order in an individual pouch and doesn't place a particular inventory items assigned to a single item order in a pouch. In this manner, handling of the particular inventory items for single items orders is separate from the pouch sorter thus reducing handling of inventory items and increasing system through-put.

Bag conveyance method and bag conveyance apparatus

A bag in which a content is put and of which a mouth portion is not sealed, is disposed in a substantially horizontal attitude in a takeoff area. A height direction position of an expected hold part of the bag and a height direction position of a hold member are caused to correspond to each other. The hold member is caused to hold the expected hold part of the bag disposed in the takeoff area in a state where the height direction position of the expected hold part of the bag and the height direction position of the hold member correspond to each other. The hold member is moved to transfer the bag from the takeoff area to a delivery area after the hold member holds the expected hold part of the bag disposed in the takeoff area.
