The feeder includes at least one wheel having an axis of rotation and at least one control device and at least one first clamping element and at least one second clamping element are fastened to the wheel. The feeder is designed to clamp a sawn wood piece in place in a conveying region between the first and the second clamping element during a rotation of the wheel and to transport it in a clamped state along the conveying region. The control device is designed to control the first clamping element independently of the second clamping element.
