[Solution] A fishing reel according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a spool, a power supply, a controller, a clutch, and a clutch state detector, wherein the controller is configured to switch between a first state of high power consumption and a second state of lower power consumption than the first state, and to switch from the second state to the first state when the clutch detector detects the off-state of the clutch.

[Solution] A fishing reel according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a spool, a power supply, a controller, a clutch, and a clutch state detector, wherein the controller is configured to switch between a first state of high power consumption and a second state of lower power consumption than the first state, and to switch from the second state to the first state when the clutch detector detects the off-state of the clutch.

A fishing reel includes a spool that winds a fishing line; an operation portion that rotates the spool; a clutch that switches from being power transmissible to power non-transmissible and vice versa between the operation portion and the spool; a rotation detector that detects the rotation of the spool; a casting preparation commencement detector that detects casting is ready; a casting completion detector that detects completion of casting; a history data generator that generates history data from when casting is ready to when the casting is completed; and a storage that stores the history data.

The battery pack can include a power output adaptor that can be engaged with a power input adaptor on the motor driven fishing reel. Alternatively, the power input adaptor can accept power from an external source. The battery pack can include one or more protrusions to engage with one or more receiving channels on the motor driven fishing reel such that the battery pack can easily be attached and detached from the motor driven fishing reel.

A motor driven fishing reel is provided. The motor driven fishing reel can include a detachable battery pack configured to supply power to a motorized drive assembly within the motor driven fishing reel. The battery pack can include a power output adaptor that can be engaged with a power input adaptor on the motor driven fishing reel. Alternatively, the power input adaptor can accept power from an external source. The battery pack can include one or more protrusions to engage with one or more receiving channels on the motor driven fishing reel such that the battery pack can easily be attached and detached from the motor driven fishing reel.
