11208273 · 2021-12-28 · ·

A device and a plurality of methods for transporting are disclosed. One method includes moving a plurality of transport movement devices (14) along a guide track (22) by use of a linear motor system. A long stator (16) of the linear motor system has, along a portion of the guide track (22), a predetermined functional region. The method includes portion-wise varying of a magnetic field generation of the long stator (16) within the predetermined functional region (46) for successive transport movement devices of the plurality of transport movement devices (14). It is thus possible to achieve various advantages, such as for example prolonging the motor service life, preventing emergency shut-offs, increased performance of the long stator linear motor and/or allowing smaller dimensioning of the long stator (16).

In one embodiment, an example system may include a first camera oriented along a vertical axis towards a gap between a first surface and a second surface, a first light emitting array positioned to emit light towards the gap, and a first light receiving array aligned with the light emitting array and configured to detect the light. The first light emitting array and the first light receiving array may be offset from the vertical axis, and the system may be configured to determine a first dimension of an item passing over the gap using the first light emitting array and the first light receiving array.

Active safety systems for item sortation equipment

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for active safety systems for item sortation equipment. In one embodiment, an example system for an item sortation machine may include a first camera configured to image a first exterior portion of the item sortation machine, memory configured to store computer-executable instructions, and at least one processor configured to access the memory and execute the computer-executable instructions to detect a human present at a first location in the first exterior portion, and determine, using the first location, a first portion of an aisle of the item sortation machine to designate a restricted travel zone. Shuttles of the item sortation machine in the restricted travel zone may be prevented from movement. The system may determine that a first shuttle of the item sortation machine is in the restricted travel zone, and may cause the first shuttle to be paused.

Method and device for transferring conveyed items between two conveying appliances, as well as a conveying system
11198566 · 2021-12-14 · ·

A method for transferring conveyed items from at least one feed conveyor onto an outgoing conveyor, in a transfer region, wherein the at least one feed conveyor includes a conveying member that is driven along a feed conveying stretch, for conveying conveyed items into the transfer region, and the outgoing conveyor includes conveying containers that are movable along a transfer conveying stretch for taking over the conveyed items that are delivered by the at least one feed conveyor. The conveyed items that lie on the conveying member are accelerated relative to the conveying member along the feed conveying stretch towards the transfer region via an acceleration device and for the purpose of delivery of the conveyed items are brought into a cyclically synchronous side-by-side conveying with a conveying container of the outgoing conveyor.
