Method and assembly for knotting and splicing a line
10238094 · 2019-03-26 ·

A method and assembly for knotting a line restrains a fishing line in a loose knot pattern while a knot or splice is formed in the fishing line to enable tightening the knot by stretching the line. The assembly includes a pair of cylinders having an external surface, a first end, and a second end. A pair of tubes encapsulate the pair of cylinders to provide a slip resistant surface. Two pair of caps comprising an open end and a closed end detachably attach to the first and second ends of the tubes. The caps include at least one flat surface region having a depression. One cap per tube includes a light emitting diode (LED) which enables hands free illumination while knotting or splicing line. Magnets are integrated into the cap depressions to enable magnetic attraction between tubes. Fishing line wrap around the tubes to enable knotting and splicing.

Materials, methods and devices for joining lines

A hand-held device for joining fishing line segments of monofilament, fluorocarbon, and/or braid lines of similar or differing sizes or combinations or securing hooks or other components to at least one line. The device includes an encasement for orienting the fishing line segments in a closed chamber in close, non-contacting orientation. A material is injected into the closed chamber to encase the lines. This material can be adhesive material or a flowable polymer material having a melting temperature lower than the line segments to be bonded. A pre-formed, flexible polymer sheath is used to retain the line segments in the chamber. A heater heats the polymer sheath within the encasement to allow the polymer to flow and encase the line segments without melting the line segments. Bonding of the line segments can be achieved without melting, abrading, compressing, or impairing the integrity the line segment(s) to be encased.

A fishing line connector system is described that can be used in the field to change out a fly pretied to a tippet quickly and easily. The connector system comprises lightweight buoyant left and right halves that can be easily coupled and decoupled by way of a threaded connection. Each includes fishing line bores through which fishing line can be tied with one half typically being tied to a leader line and the other half to a tippet line. The connector system is brightly colored to permit an angler to see the connector floating on the surface of the water and thereby serve as an indicator as to general location of the fly.

A fishing system is disclosed. In one aspect, the fishing system includes a first fishing line segment terminating with a hook and a second fishing line segment terminating with a sinker. An attachment point can also be provided, wherein a first eyelet of the attachment point is slidably arranged on the first fishing line segment and a second eyelet of the attachment point is attached to the second fishing line segment. The fishing system can also include an immovable stopper attached to the first fishing line segment and a rigid or non-collapsing flexible tube spaced between the hook and the immovable stopper. In one aspect, the hook, stopper, and tube can move distally away from the first eyelet. The fishing system can also include a spherical ball spacer situated between the stopper and the first eyelet.

FISHING LEADER WITH MULTI-LAYERED CRIMP SLEEVE
20180332838 · 2018-11-22 ·

The patent discloses a crimp sleeve for the fixation of two or more sections of wire, line, or similar material to each other. The crimp sleeve consists of an outer compressible and permanently deformable layer which is hard and resistant, and an inner cushion layer, which is softer and which conforms to the sections of material to be attached to each other. The multi-layered structure of the crimp sleeve allows for secure fixation without the risk of breakage or slippage of the connection. The invention applies primarily to fishing leaders that have looped ends, but can be applied to other areas where two or more sections of wire or line need to be secured to each other by crimping.
