Image Forming Apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes a tray, a roller unit, an image forming unit, and a pressing mechanism. The roller unit includes a feed roller disposed above a downstream end portion of the tray in a sheet conveying direction in which a sheet is conveyed, a separation roller disposed downstream of the feed roller in the sheet conveying direction, and a roller holder pivotable about a rotation axis of the separation roller, the roller holder holding the feed roller rotatably about an axis of the feed roller and pivotably vertically. The pressing mechanism includes an arm member configured to press the roller holder such that the roller holder pivots downward, and a weight portion provided to the arm member and applying, to the arm member, a load in a direction in which the feed roller is raised from the upper surface of the sheet supported on the tray.
SHEET CONVEYING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A sheet conveying device includes a sheet stacking part, a conveying path and a conveying roller. The conveying roller includes a drive roller and a driven roller which is pressed against the drive roller and is driven by the drive roller to be rotated. The drive roller has a rotating drive shaft and a drive roller body rotatable together with the rotating drive shaft. The driven roller has a rotating shaft and a driven roller body supported by the rotating shaft in a rotatable manner. The driven roller body has a plurality of roller parts which are arranged in an axial direction of the rotating shaft and pressed against the drive roller body.

There is provided a roller including: a roller body part; and a rubber part attached to the roller body part, the rubber part including: a rubber body part provided on an outer circumference of the roller body part; and a side extending part extending on a side face of the roller body part from a side face of the rubber body part, wherein the roller body part has a recess portion formed on the side face of the roller body part, and into which the side extending part is fitted.
Conveying roller, and feeding unit and image forming apparatus provided therewith
A conveying roller has a rotary shaft portion, a roller supporting member, and a roller member. The rotary shaft portion is extendable/contractible. The roller supporting member has an interior space. The roller member is supported on the outer circumferential surface of the roller supporting member. The rotary shaft portion includes first and second shafts. The first shaft has one end part inserted into the interior space, and is movable axially relative to a first side surface. The first shaft has a regulating portion displaceable between a permitting position where the regulating portion permits the movement of the first shaft in the insertion direction relative to the roller supporting member without interfering with a rim of an opening and a restricting position where the regulating portion restricts the movement of the first shaft in the insertion direction relative to the roller supporting member by interfering with the rim.
Sheet feeding device
A sheet feeding device includes: a main assembly; a holding unit detachably mountable to the main assembly; a portion-to-be-engaged provided on the main assembly; a rotatable member, provided in the holding unit, for feeding a sheet; and a guiding member for guiding feeding of the sheet. The guiding member is provided in the holding unit and includes an engaging portion engageable with the portion-to-be-engaged. The guiding member is movable between an engaging position where the portion-to-be-engaged and the engaging portion are engaged with each other to guide the sheet and a guiding position where the portion-to-be-engaged and the engaging portion are disengaged from each other to guide demounting and mounting of the holding unit.
Image reading apparatus
An apparatus main body of an image reading apparatus is capable of being switched between a first posture and a second posture in which an inclination angle is smaller than that of the first posture. The image reading apparatus is capable of switching between a separation state in which a separation roller separates a document and a non-separation state in which the separation roller does not separate the document. The image reading apparatus puts the separation roller in the separation state when the apparatus main body is in the first posture and puts the separation roller in the non-separation state when the apparatus main body is in the second posture.
Document feeders for printers and printers comprising the document feeders
A document feeder for a printer may include an upper part and/or a lower part. The upper part may include a feeding roller arrangement configured to engage with an upper face of a document. The lower part may include a retaining surface. The lower part may further include a sliding element which, in at least an operation mode of the document feeder, may have a portion that projects with respect to the retaining surface for supporting a lower face of the document in such a way that at least a portion of the document is raised with respect to the retaining surface.
Placement station for placing flat items and feeding them to a singularization station and method
A placement station for placing flat items has multiple transport elements extending through a related opening in a placement deck of the placement station. All transport elements are driven by a single drive motor via toothed belt discs and toothed belts. At least one trigger sensor is arranged in the placement station on the exit side of the mail-item flow. The drive motor and the trigger sensor are electrically connected with means for controlling the transport speed of the flat items. Each transport element is carried by a transport module. The placement station has multiple transport modules, each extending with a transport element mounted on its head side through a related opening in a placement deck of the placement station. The transport modules are lowerable below the placement deck in a direction contrary to a spring force. The direction of traction can be changed by turning at least one transport module before or during operation of the placement station. Each transport element has a barrel-shaped body with an equator, wherein different friction values of said body of the transport element are provided on both sides of the equator. The transport modules are directionally positioned such that the half of the body of the transport element with the higher friction value is closest to the alignment wall.

A roller member includes an endless belt elastically deformable and configured to convey a sheet and a holding unit holding the endless belt. The holding unit includes a first holding portion being in contact with an inner circumferential surface of the endless belt, a second holding portion being in contact with an outer circumferential surface of the endless belt and movable with respect to the first holding portion, and an engage portion engaging with an engaged portion. The second holding portion is moved with respect to the first holding portion by resilient force of the endless belt in a state in which the second holding portion is in contact with the outer circumferential surface of the endless belt in response to a disengagement of the engage portion from the engaged portion.
Sheet feeder, sheet feeding assembly, and method of mounting sheet feeding assembly in sheet feeder
A sheet feeder includes: a sheet feeding assembly including: a shaft having an insertion part; and a feed roller; and a main body including: a rotary part; and first and second bearings. The main body supports the sheet feeding assembly. The rotary part rotates upon transmission of a drive force and receives the insertion part. The bearings support the shaft. An opening of an open portion of the first bearing has a circumferential dimension greater than a diameter of the shaft. The shaft supported by the bearings is movable between a mounted position and a retracted position. The feed roller is supported by the shaft, and movable as the shaft moves between the mounted position and the retracted position. The insertion part is separated from the rotary part when the shaft is in the retracted position, and inserted into the rotary part to place the shaft in the mounted position.
