Disclosed is a paper-sheet-feeding/conveying roller having a shaft, and a bi-layer roller material which is formed of an inner layer provided on the shaft and an outer layer. The inner layer provided on the shaft is a foamed elastic layer. The outer layer provided on the foamed elastic layer is a non-foamed elastic layer. The foamed elastic layer is formed of a foamed elastic body of silicone-modified EPDM.
Sheet handling device and image forming apparatus incorporating the sheet handling device
A sheet handling device includes a shaft, a roller, and a joint. The roller is detachably attached on an end portion of the shaft. The joint is mounted on the end of the shaft and has a claw at a tip of the joint. The claw of the joint is configured to position the roller in a thrust direction along the shaft while an inner circumferential surface of the roller is in contact with an outer circumferential surface of the shaft. The inner circumferential surface of the roller has a cylindrical shape.
LINER-LESS LABEL PRE-FEED SYSTEM
A system and method for feeding a ribbon of un-lined label stock to a printer includes first and second, abutting rollers that cooperatively remove label stock from a roll. An optical sensor is disposed in a ribbon path between the rollers and the printer. The optical sensor determines a slackness level of the ribbon between rollers and the printer. Speed of a drive roller drive motor is increased when the slackness level is below a prescribed threshold. Speed of the drive roller motor is decreased when the slackness level is above a prescribed threshold.
Feed pull roll system with detachable elastomeric feed-roll covers and process for cover replacement
An improved elastomer covered feed roll assembly (32R) for use in a feed/pull roll set combination (36) in a sheet finishing machine (12) comprises a roll core (50) having a cylindrical surface (60) with multiple longitudinally spaced and circumferentially offset elongated keyways (80, 82, 84, 86) each configured as a locking slot. Multiple replaceable flexible feed cover sections (52, 54, 56) each incorporating a flexible backing (120) and an elastomeric layer or coating (122) are removably mounted on the roll core by locking components (74, 76) on opposite ends (70, 72) of each of said replaceable flexible feed cover sections, the locking components of each replaceable flexible feed cover section engaging a locking slot (80, 82, 84, 86) corresponding to the feed cover section. The keyways draw together the opposite ends (70, 72) of corresponding cover sections to form corresponding end joints (96, 98, 100).
DRIVING CONTROL OF PRINTING MEDIUM FEEDING DEVICE
A printing medium feeding device includes a loading unit into which a printing medium is loaded, a pickup roller which picks up the loaded printing medium, a retard roller, a forward roller engaged with the retard roller to feed the picked-up printing medium in a first direction, a torque limiter to apply torque in a second direction opposite to the first direction to the retard roller, and a processor. The processor controls driving of the forward roller by generating a pre-driving signal to change a torque state of the torque limiter to an effective torque state for preventing multi-feeding of printing media and controls driving of the forward roller by generating a driving signal to feed the printing medium in the first direction.
Sheet separation device, laminator, image forming apparatus, and image forming system
A sheet separation device includes a rotator, a nipping member to nip the two-ply sheet with the rotator, a first conveyor to convey the two-ply sheet in a first direction toward the rotator and a second direction reverse thereto, a winding member to wind the two-ply sheet around the rotator, a second conveyor to convey a sheet medium in the second direction, a separation claw to move in a width direction; a sheet guide to guide the separated two sheets to different passages; and control circuitry. The first conveyor conveys the two-ply sheet to the rotator with a bonded portion at an upstream end. The control circuitry inserts the separation claw into a space between the two sheets, adjusts a projection amount of the two-ply sheet from a nip of the first conveyor in the second direction, and inserts the sheet medium in two-ply sheet adjusted in the projection amount.
PAPER SHEET HANDLING APPARATUS AND CORRECTION METHOD OF PAPER SHEET HANDLING APPARATUS
A method including correcting output of an image sensor unit based on correction information of the image sensor unit that captures and discriminates a paper sheet. A apparatus includes an image sensor unit which includes an image capturing element that captures a banknote so as to discriminate the banknote, a controller that controls the image sensor unit, and a first attachment part, to which the image sensor unit is attached to be detachable, and which includes a connection terminal that connects the image sensor unit and the controller with each other, and which is arranged in a conveyance path for conveying the banknote.
SHEET FEEDING APPARATUS, IMAGE READING APPARATUS, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A sheet feeding apparatus includes: a conveying roller; a separating roller which forms a nip portion by pressing the conveying roller and separates a sheet conveyed by the conveying roller one by one in the nip portion; a moving portion configured to move a stacking portion from a first position at which a sheet stacked in the stacking portion and a feeding roller are separated from each other to a second position at which the sheet stacked in the stacking portion abuts on the feeding roller; and a cover member which is movable between a third position to cover a rotation shaft of the separating roller and a fourth position to expose the rotation shaft of the separating roller, in which the cover member placed in the fourth position moves to the third position along with movement of the stacking portion from the first position to the second position.
Image forming apparatus
According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes a support shaft, a connecting member, and a detachable member. The support shaft extends in a first direction. The support shaft includes a protrusion. The protrusion protrudes in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction. The connecting member is formed of an elastic material. The connecting member interposes the protrusion therebetween. The connecting member is connected to the support shaft to surround an outer periphery of the support shaft. The detachable member is detachably connected to the support shaft via the connecting member.
