Printing press assembly having a plurality of processing stations for processing sheets and method for operating the printing press assembly

A printing press arrangement has a plurality of processing stations for processing sheets. The plurality of processing stations are arranged one after another in a transport direction of the sheets for in-line processing of the sheets. At least one of the processing stations is configured as a non-impact printing device. A transfer device, which is arranged upstream of the active region of the non-impact printing device, is provided for transferring the sheets from a first processing station, which is arranged upstream of the non-impact printing device, to the non-impact printing device. The transfer device aligns, in each case, at least one of the axial register and the circumferential register and the diagonal register of each of the sheets in register relative to the printing position of the non-impact printing device.

TRANSPORTING A SHEET THROUGH A PLASMA TREATMENT UNIT

A plasma treatment unit for a printer includes a gap directly upstream of its electrode. A sheet may bend into the gap, resulting in damage to the sheet or paper jams. The risk of this is reduced or prevented by a method for transporting sheets of print media between electrodes of a plasma treatment unit of a printer, including arranging the sheet and the electrodes, so that an edge of the sheet and an upstream edge of at least one of the electrodes are at a non-zero angle with one another, as the sheet passes over the electrode.

A system for moving a flexible plate, in particular a printing plate or a printing plate precursor, over a support surface in the direction of a treatment station includes a support for supporting the plate on a support surface thereof. An articulated operating arm extends substantially parallel to the support surface and comprising a first segment and a second segment. The first segment has a first end which is rotatably connected to said second segment around a first rotation axis substantially perpendicular to the support surface, and a second end provided with a plate engagement means to contact the plate. The second segment is rotatable around a second rotation axis substantially perpendicular to the support surface. A control means controls the rotation of the first and second segments such that the plate is slid over the support in the direction of the treatment station.
