An apparatus for exchanging paper rolls includes a paper supply mechanism having an inclined arm and a clamp assembly for receiving and holding a first paper roll; a second-roll hanger assembly arranged above the paper supply mechanism for receiving and holding a second paper roll; a slide rail arranged between the paper supply mechanism and the second-roll hanger assembly; an elevating assembly movably mounted to the slide rail; and a driving assembly for driving the elevating assembly to move along the slide rail. The elevating assembly picks up the second paper roll from the second-roll hanger assembly. To exchange the first paper roll with the second paper roll, the clamp assembly pushes the first paper roll away from the paper supply mechanism, and the elevating assembly lowers down along the slide rail to place the second paper roll in the paper supply mechanism.

Maintaining a level of tension on material as it is processed in a manufacturing operation assists in the processing of the material. The tension of the material as it is fed through a process station is maintained by a material sag portion, such as an unsupported portion of the material extending between a roll of the material and the process station. The formation of the sag portion and the loading of the material forming the sag portion are automated and adjusted with a system having a material storage retrieval system, a shuttle, a tensioning device, and/or a processing station.

A printer includes a case including an input port for rolled paper, a cover provided to be rotatable between a closed position of the input port and an open position of the input port, a holding portion that holds the rolled paper, a biasing member that biases the holding portion in a first direction, a stopper mechanism that stops rotation of the holding portion in the first direction, and a linkage mechanism that rotates the holding portion in conjunction with the rotation of the cover. A dual roll laminating film cartridge refill for a reusable cartridge loadable in a laminating machine. The refill includes a first roll of continuous adhesive-coated translucent laminating film having a first axial end and a second axial end. The refill includes a second roll of continuous adhesive-coated translucent laminating film having a first axial end and a second axial end. A first connector couples the first axial ends of the first and second rolls at a predefined gap distance. A second connector is independent from and spaced from the first connector, the second connector coupling the second axial ends of the first and second rolls at the predefined gap distance. The first and second connectors are uniquely shaped and asymmetrical to provide a keyed interface to the reusable cartridge.

A recording apparatus includes a containing portion that contains a rolled sheet obtained by winding a sheet and a recording portion that records an image on the sheet fed from the rolled sheet contained in the containing portion and further includes an opening/closing member that can be movable between an open position at which the containing portion is opened and a closed position at which the containing portion is closed and a first guiding portion provided in the opening/closing member to guide the rolled sheet to the containing portion in a case where the opening/closing member is at the open position.
