Dispenser Apparatus and Method of Use for Laminating and Dispensing Transfer Tape in a Paper Web Turn-Up System
An apparatus and method for assembling, dispensing and using a laminated paper web transfer tape, an embodiment of the apparatus having a pair of transfer tape spools enclosed within a housing, one transfer tape spool containing a first tape component of the laminated transfer tape and the other transfer tape spool containing a second tape component of the laminated transfer tape, the first tape component being the combination of a substrate having adhesive on both sides and a release liner, the second tape component being a cover flap member having a release coating over at least a majority of one side. The components are unwound from the spools and pressed together such that they become joined along a longitudinal edge strip, then dispensed from the housing. The cover flap member covers one of the adhesive sides of the transfer tape substrate until the moment just prior to transfer of a continuous paper web from a full web spool to an empty web spool, the cover flap member being opened to expose the adhesive by air pressure or resistance.
Tearing strip of paper for severing a paper web
A paperband tearing strip for severing a paper web that moves from a papermaking plant onto a winding drum. The tearing strip is composed of a paper strip which has two longitudinally running lateral folds along which the paper strip is folded on top of itself. The central strip part in relation to the lateral strip parts has a thickness which is at least 1.5 times greater, and the width of said central strip part is at least one fifth of the width of the paper strip. The widths of the lateral strip parts each are at least one tenth of the width of the central strip part. The central strip part is formed with at least one fold on account of which the central strip part is configured to be at least quadruple-layered.

Method and apparatus for separating and spooling a paper web
A paper tape turn-up construct including a cover flap and a multi-bend structure to both protect an adhesive layer and to build an optimized elevated structure to present the adhesive layer during initiation of the paper web turn up process. Methods and apparatus to form the constructs and apply the constructs to paper production equipment are also included. The multi-bend paper turn up construct includes layers of adhesive and pulpable substrate with strategically located release materials, such as silicon that enhance a bridging of a gap between a rotating paper web and an empty spool surface.
Method and apparatus for separating and spooling a paper web
An apparatus for dispensing an adhesive with paper covers to be used in a paper web turn-up operation. The resulting adhesive and paper cover construct is used in effecting the attachment of a paper web to an approaching spool. In some examples, the paper cover of the deposited adhesive may be affixed on two sides surrounding the deposited adhesive, in other examples a single attachment may be used. In some examples, the paper cover may be perforated to facilitate rupture of the paper and flow of adhesive. In some examples, perforations may enable the movement of adhesive through the paper.
APPARATUS WITH ZONE COATED TRANSFER TAPE FOR SEPARATING AND SPOOLING A PAPER WEB
The present invention relates to a paper web processing apparatus featuring a transfer tape construct designed for efficient turn-up operations. The apparatus includes a carrier paper with a zone coating applied in longitudinal stripes, an adhesive layer laminated to the carrier paper, and a cover flap that protects the adhesive from environmental contaminants. The transfer tape construct is mounted on an empty web spool, and the zone coating comprises a silicone-based release material. The cover flap is engineered to open in response to centrifugal and aerodynamic forces during spool rotation, facilitating the separation of the adhesive layer into ribbons along the zone-coated areas. This configuration allows the cover flap to bridge a gap between the empty web spool and a paper web, ensuring a seamless transfer process. The apparatus is designed to enhance the reliability and efficiency of paper web processing, particularly in high-speed environments.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR A TURN-UP PROCEDURE USING AN ADHESIVE COMPOSITE SHEET
Methods and apparatus to form tear-off composite adhesive sheets that adhesively attach a paper web to an empty web spool. In some embodiments, the composite adhesive sheet is applied in several layers to an empty web spool, each layer suitable for fixedly attaching a paper web to the empty spool. Multiple layers of composite adhesive sheet allow for use during multiple turn-up procedures with one layer of composite adhesive sheet used per turn-up procedure. In some examples, the composite adhesive sheet may be applied to a paper spool tangentially along the spool face and perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the spool. In other examples, the composite adhesive sheet may be spirally wrapped around the paper spool.
Adhesive paperband composite for turn up procedure
Paperband composites for transferring a paper web from a full web spool to an empty web spool. In some embodiments, the paperband composite is applied in several layers to an empty web spool, each layer suitable for fixedly attaching a paper web to the empty spool. Multiple layers of paperband composite allow for use during multiple turn-up procedures with one layer of paperband composite used per turn-up procedure. In some examples, the paperband composite may be applied to a paper spool tangentially along the spool face and perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the spool. In other examples, the paperband composite may be spirally wrapped around the paper spool.
