Core with Cushion Strip
20180099835 · 2018-04-12 · ·

A core for winding sheet material is proved. The core comprises a cylindrical tube having a longitudinally oriented slot formed therein, and a strip of soft material located in the slot. Because of the geometry of the slot and the strip, the strip may be softer in the central region but firmer where the core transitions from the relatively soft strip to the relatively hard tube. The leading edge of the sheet material imbeds itself into the soft central region of the strip as additional layers are wound around the core.

The winding core has a perforated circumferential surface with at least one opening. A coil is also provided that has at least a winding core and a foil which is wound on the winding core.

Method for producing coreless rolls of paper

A method of forming a roll of convolutely wound web material. The method includes winding web material around an elongated mandrel to form a roll of convolutely wound web material. The mandrel is substantially axially elastic and formed of material having a tensile yield strength divided by elastic modulus greater than 2.0%, and more preferably 2.5%. The mandrel is preferably radially complaint. The method further includes removing the mandrel from the roll. A further method includes winding web material around an elongated mandrel to form a roll of convolutely wound web material, the mandrel being comprised of material having a tensile yield strength divided by elastic modulus greater than 2.0%, and then longitudinally elongating the mandrel.

Adhesive paperband composite for turn up procedure

Methods and apparatus to form tear-off paperband composites that adhesively attach a paper web to an empty web spool. In some embodiments, the paperband composite is applied in several layers to an empty web spool, each layer suitable for fixedly attaching a paper web to the empty spool. Multiple layers of paperband composite allow for use during multiple turn-up procedures with one layer of paperband composite used per turn-up procedure. In some examples, the paperband composite may be applied to a paper spool tangentially along the spool face and perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the spool. In other examples, the paperband composite may be spirally wrapped around the paper spool.

Device and method for controlling the separation of sheets of paper webs in rewinding machines and a rewinding machine provided with such a device
09856103 · 2018-01-02 · ·

Device for controlling the separation of the sheets of paper webs rolled in the form of logs, comprising a guide roller (RA) cooperating with further means (R4, R5) for rolling a paper web (2) so as to form a paper log and cooperating with means for providing pre-incision lines on the paper web (2) so as to divide it in multiple separable sheets. The device comprises pneumatic separation means (SP) adapted to direct a fluid jet (J) toward a pre-incision line (p) which separates the last sheet (LS) of a log (RO) in the course of formation from the first sheet (FS) of a subsequent log to be formed. The pneumatic separation means (SP) are inside the guide roller (RA) and the latter has an outer surface (72) with a plurality of through holes (73) allowing the fluid jet (J) produced by the pneumatic separation means (SP) to be directed towards the pre-incision lines (p). The device comprises suction means (200, 201) arranged downstream of the separation means (SP) relative to a direction (K) of rotation of the guide roller (RA). The suction means (200, 201) are inside the guide roller (RA). The suction means (200, 201) provoke a suction through the holes (73).

Rewinding machine and method for the production of rolls of web material

A rewinding machine is described with a winding cradle defined by three rollers and including a fourth winding roller defining with the first winding roller a cradle in which the web material is pushed by a winding core to the beginning of each winding cycle, to cause severing of the web material without the need for controlled mechanical parts.

Reel handling system for a winder, and method in this regard

The invention relates to a reel handling system for a winder (50), in which bobbins (1) with a material web (2) can be applied, with the result that a plurality of reels (3) which are wound on the bobbins (1) with a material web (2) are produced, having a feed unit (10), in order to transfer a plurality of bobbins (1) to a receiving unit (20), wherein the receiving unit (20) is arranged movably between the feed unit (10) and a transfer station (60), by way of which receiving unit (20) bobbins (1) can be transferred to the winder (50) and reels (3) can be transferred from the winder (50) to the transfer station (60), wherein a positioning device (80) is provided between the transfer station (60) and the feed unit (10), which positioning device (80) brings about positioning of the bobbins (1) during the movement of the receiving unit (20) in the direction of the transfer station (60).
