Media Cartridge Assembly

An example disclosed herein includes a media cartridge. The media cartridge includes a housing configured to rotatably support a media roll. The media cartridge further includes a cartridge output within the housing configured to guide a media web from the media roll out of the housing. The media cartridge includes a spring and a media stop assembly configured to translate between a release position and a hold position. When the media stop assembly is in the hold position, the media web of the media roll is pinched between the media stop assembly and a surface and when the media stop assembly is in the release position, the media stop assembly is separated from the surface and the media web is free to move. The spring further biases the media stop assembly towards the hold position and is removable without opening the housing of the media cartridge.

The spreading device (1) comprises two deflection elements (2 and 3), which each extend transversely to the transport path and are configured and arranged such that a strip spacing (9) between two adjacent to one another along a transport path are successively enlarged over the first and second deflection elements (2 and 3) of the guided material sheet strips (4). The deflection elements (2, 3) are arranged in a rotationally fixed manner. Each deflection element (2 and 3) comprises a number of openings (15) in a transport contact area (13) of a deflection sheath surface (12) of the deflection elements (2 and 3) covered by the material sheet strips (4) transported over it, through which compressed air can be blown in order to create a friction-reducing air layer between the material sheet strips (4) and the deflection sheath surfaces (12) of the deflection elements (2 and 3) in the transport contact area (13).

The second guide has a second guide surface whose shape is defined by a part of an outer circumferential surface of a virtual second circular or elliptical column each having a second central axis inclined relative to the first direction. The second central axis is not on the same virtual plane as the first central axis is.

A printing cassette including a to-be-printed tape, an input unit, and an output unit connected to be driven to the input unit is mountable on the cassette mounting portion in an axial direction of the rotation axis of the drive shaft. In a state where the printing cassette is mounted on the cassette mounting portion, the drive shaft is engaged with the input unit and the platen gear is engaged with the output unit.
