A recording apparatus includes a transport unit capable of transporting a medium, a detection unit capable of detecting a transport direction in which the transport unit transports the medium, a recording unit capable of performing recording on the medium transported by the transport unit, and a plurality of rotating bodies provided in an intersecting direction that intersects the transport direction. Each rotating body is capable of contacting a side surface of the medium opposite to a recording surface of the medium on which recording is performed by the recording unit and has a rotation shaft that extends in the intersecting direction. The apparatus further includes a control unit that controls rotation speed of each rotating body individually on the basis of a result of detection by the detection unit.

Image forming apparatus and winding-deviation prevention method
In a front/back reversing unit, a base metal sheet having rollers attached thereon is engaged with a rotation spindle fixed to a fitting such that the base metal sheet is rotatable in a horizontal direction. When an operation of rolling up a print target medium is started and if winding tension with respect to the print target medium to be wrapped around a winding shaft becomes unbalanced, the front/back reversing unit rotates in accordance with the winding tension so as to balance the winding tension. Then, when the winding tension applied to the print target medium becomes balanced, the front/back reversing unit is returned to its original position by an elastic member, and the roller of the front/back reversing unit and the winding shaft become substantially parallel to each other.

The guide roll includes a cylindrical roll main body and a short-diameter portion connected with the roll main body so as to be outer, in the width direction of the sheet, to the roll main body. The roll main body is located closer to a center, in the width direction, of the sheet than a transportation path for the end. A portion of the sheet that is closer to the center than the end is wound along the roll main body. The short-diameter portion is connected with the roll main body via a stepped portion, and has an outer diameter shorter than an outer diameter of the roll main body.
