The guide film is a film in which a pair of supports, which is long in the longitudinal direction of a base film and is thicker than a product film, is disposed on both side portions of the upper surface of the base film that is formed to have a width larger than the width of the product film. A product film supply mechanism feeds the product film toward the upper surface of the guide film. The winding mechanism forms a film roll by winding the product film for each guide film. The tension of the product film is set to be smaller than the tension of the guide film.

Systems for unwinding a roll of thermoplastic material interleaved with a porous material, and related methods

An apparatus (un-interleaver) for unwinding a roll of material interleaved with another material, and for separating the materials, includes a first platform, a second platform, a tension-sensor, an edge-sensor, and a controller. The controller monitors signals generated by the tension sensor and the edge sensor, and in response to the signals: a) causes the speed at which the second platform rotates to change to maintain a predetermined tension in the second material as the second material travels from the first platform toward the second platform, and b) causes the second platform to move relative to the first platform to align the edge of the second material traveling toward the roll of second material with the edge of the second material in the roll.

ADHESIVE PAPERBAND COMPOSITE FOR TURN UP PROCEDURE

Methods and apparatus to form tear-off paperband composites that adhesively attach a paper web to an empty web spool. In some embodiments, the paperband composite is applied in several layers to an empty web spool, each layer suitable for fixedly attaching a paper web to the empty spool. Multiple layers of paperband composite allow for use during multiple turn-up procedures with one layer of paperband composite used per turn-up procedure. In some examples, the paperband composite may be applied to a paper spool tangentially along the spool face and perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the spool. In other examples, the paperband composite may be spirally wrapped around the paper spool.

The machine (1;100) comprises a winding station (3; 101), adapted to receive secondary winding cores (T) coaxial with, and adjacent to, one another. The machine further comprises a cutting device (11; 104) with a plurality of blades (13; 105), arranged upstream of the winding station (3; 101) with respect to the feeding direction of the web material (N) and adapted to slit the web material into a plurality of strips (S1-S5) of web material. An in-line measurement arrangement (81-87) is also provided for measuring the Poisson's ratio of the web material (N).
