WEIGHT MATERIAL CUTTING, DISPENSING AND APPLYING SYSTEMS

A feed and cutting unit for selectively cutting and dispensing individual weight material segments from a common strip of backing material is disclosed. The feed and cutting unit comprises a feed assembly, a sensor and a cutter member. The feed assembly includes a drive roller and a follower roller that frictionally engages first and second surfaces of a strip of weight material to selectively move the strip of weight material to a cutter member. The sensor is connected to a controller and measures an amount of segmented weight material on the backing material as the strip of weight material moves past the sensor. The cutter member is actuated to separate weight material segments from the backing material by cutting at least a portion of the backing material in a gap disposed between adjacent segments. Weight apply devices that receive the segments for application to an imbalanced member, are also disclosed.

A measuring roller, which rolls on the profiled sealing element without slip, is arranged at a small distance before a drive system for the profiled sealing element. The length sensed by the measuring roller corresponds to the length of the profiled sealing element applied to the body along an application distance having a defined length.

A method of producing a film is provided. The method involves a winding step including a point-of-interest detecting step including detecting a point-of-interest on the film, a number-of-turns counting step including counting the number of turns of the film wound around a winding core, and a number-of-turns storing step including storing, in association with the number of turns of the film wound around the winding core, a position of the point-of-interest in a direction of transfer of the film. The method eliminates the need for a step of printing on a film for the purpose of locating a point-of-interest on the film.

When the first strap pulling mechanism pulls the clamped strap to the transfer position, the second strap pulling mechanism clamps the strap at the pulling position, the cutter mechanism cuts the strap at the cutting position to acquire a strap segment. When the second strap pulling mechanism pulls the clamped strap to the transfer position, the first strap pulling mechanism clamps the strap at the pulling position, the cutter mechanism cuts the strap at the cutting position to acquire a strap segment.

When a length in a conveying direction of a margin to be cut off is shorter than a predetermined distance between a cutting part and a second conveying part, a sheet cutting machine feeds a first sheet to the cutting part using a first conveying part while keeping the second conveying part positioned at a conveying path. When the length is equal to or longer than the predetermined distance, the machine feeds the first sheet to the cutting part using the first conveying part after upwardly retracting the second conveying part from the conveying path using a retracting mechanism.
