Reel take-up machine

A reel take-up apparatus includes a frame, a drive mechanism, a pair of support rollers, and a pair of positioning actuators. The frame may be configured to receive a reel from one end. The drive mechanism is generally slidably mounted to the frame and configured to rotate the reel. The pair of support rollers generally extend from the frame and may be configured to provide support to the reel while allowing the reel to rotate. The pair of positioning actuators may be configured to move the pair of support rollers toward and away from each other so as to (i) lift the reel from a support surface, (ii) support the reel during rotation by the drive mechanism, and (iii) lower the reel to the support surface for removal from the frame.

Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed to an unwinding mandrel for connecting to an unwinding apparatus for unwinding elongate materials and/or an unwinding system. In one example embodiment, an unwinding mandrel is disclosed including: a main part positioned in the center of a bundle of elongated materials; a connecting portion detachably connecting the unwinding mandrel to the unwinding apparatus; and at least one movable body pivotably connected by at least one joint to the main part, transversely to a main extension axis of the main part.

METHOD OF INSTALLING CABLE ON CABLE REEL

A method of installing a coil of cable in a bag, that includes the steps of placing a coil of cable on a first hub of a first flange of the cable reel; placing a second flange of the cable reel, that is separable from the first flange, opposite from the first flange to hold the coil of cable on the first hub of the first flange; positioning the first flange on or next to a first support frame received in the bag; and placing the second flange on or next to a second support frame received in the bag. The second support frame is positioned in the bag such that the first flange, the coil of cable and the second flange are located between the first support frame and the second support frame.

An optical fiber pay-off system includes a draw spool around which an optical fiber is wound and defining a longitudinal axis; a pay-off arm movable parallel to the longitudinal axis and engaged with a pay-off portion of the optical fiber; a controller configured to receive first and second position signals and instructs the pay-off arm to selectively move in a first direction and in an opposite second direction; first and second proximity sensors mounted on the pay-off arm; a tilting support rotatably mounted on the pay-off arm. The system further includes an activation body fixed to the tilting support and extending between the first and second proximity sensors to be selectively detected by the sensors according to positions assumed by the tilting support. The system further includes first and second contacts fixed to the tilting support and defining an intermediate space in which the pay-off portion can move.

Quick change height adjustment mechanism for a reel stand
09840392 · 2017-12-12 · ·

A quick change height adjustment mechanism allows a reel stand to accommodate differently sized storage spools. The mechanism includes a plate, a locking pin and a pivot pin. The plate forms a cavity into which a post is seated and has at least one space which receive a spindle of the spool. The locking pin extends from the plate and into the cavity. The locking pin is vertically spaced from, and positioned on a first side of, a centerline of the plate. The pivot pin is attached to the plate, is vertically spaced from, and positioned on a second, opposite side of, the centerline. The pivot and locking pins are positioned on opposite sides of the post. In use, the plate can be pivoted relative to the post around pivot pin to engage or disengage the locking pin with holes in the post.

A hosed-reeling apparatus comprising a hose reel and a rack having a front opening for demountably receiving and supporting the hose reel. The hose reel has two sidewalls, a connection member concentrically coupling the two sidewalls, and two spindles extending laterally outward from the centers of the two sidewalls, respectively. The rack has at least a base framework, and a locking structure configurable between an unlock position and a lock position. The base framework has two upward facing channels on opposite sides thereof for demountably receiving the hose reel spindles. The channels are accessible from thereabove when the locking structure is at the unlock position, and the channels are inaccessible from thereabove when the locking structure is at the lock position. Each of the sidewalls of the hose reel may have at least one straight outer edge, allowing the hose reel sit stably on a horizontal surface or a ramp.

Cable dispenser

A cable dispensing system for unwinding a spool of cable not having a central core, the system comprising a tub having a base and a side wall with a side wall opening partially forming an inner space sized to fit the spool, the system further including an inner assembly having a base plate and a bearing assembly between the plate and the tub base, the bearing assembly supporting both the axial load and providing free rotation of the plate relative to the tub base about an inner space axis and unrestricted rotation of the associated spool about the system axis, the opening in the side wall allowing passage of the associated cable out of the inner space wherein pulling the cable out of the inner space rotates the associated spool about the inner space axis and unwinds the cable from the spool with low resistance and without kinking.
