TRANSGENIC FLUORESCENT ORNAMENTAL AMPHIBIANS
The present invention relates to the method and use of fluorescent proteins in making transgenic fluorescent ornamental amphibians. The fluorescent ornamental amphibians are used to establish a population of transgenic ornamental amphibians and to provide to the ornamental amphibian industry. Thus, new varieties of ornamental amphibians of different fluorescence colors from a novel source are developed.
Recombinant constructs and transgenic fluorescent ornamental fish therefrom
The present invention relates to the method and use of reef coral fluorescent proteins in making transgenic red, green and yellow fluorescent zebrafish. Preferably, such fluorescent zebrafish are fertile and used to establish a population of transgenic zebrafish and to provide to the ornamental fish industry for the purpose of marketing. Thus, new varieties of ornamental fish of different fluorescence colors from a novel source are developed.
INSECT MUSCLE ACTIN PROMOTER
Provided is a gene expression system, suitable for expression in an insect, comprising an insect muscle actin promoter operably linked to a marker gene, which overcomes or ameliorates one or more of: cost of rearing; amount of handling; errors in identification due to human error or loss of marker by the insect; and health concerns related to the effects of marker powders on workers in mass rearing facilities.
LINCRNA-DEFICIENT NON-HUMAN ANIMALS
Genetically modified non-human animals are provided that exhibit a functional lack of one or more IncRNAs. Methods and compositions for disrupting, deleting, and/or replacing IncRNA-encoding sequences are provided. Genetically modified mice that age prematurely are provided. Also provided are cells, tissues and embryos that are genetically modified to comprise a loss-of-function of one or more IncRNAs.
REGENERATIVE NONSTEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY COMPOSITIONS, METHODS OF PRODUCTION, AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
The disclosure provides nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory compositions and methods of use thereof. Specifically, the disclosure provides cell-free or substantially cell-free regenerative nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory compositions derived from placenta and/or from MSC cells isolated therefrom, methods for producing said compositions, and uses thereof to treat chronic and acute inflammatory conditions and diseases.
Adeno-associated virus capsid variants and methods of use thereof
The present disclosure provides recombinant adeno-associated virus virions with variant capsid protein, where the recombinant AAV (rAAV) virions exhibit one or more of increased ability to cross neuronal cell barriers, increased infectivity of a neural stem cell, increased infectivity of a neuronal cell, and reduced susceptibility to antibody neutralization, compared to a control AAV, and where the rAAV virions comprise a heterologous nucleic acid. The present disclosure provides methods of delivering a gene product to a neural stem cell or a neuronal cell in an individual. The present disclosure also provides methods of modifying a target nucleic acid present in a neural stem cell or neuronal cell.
LONG TERM HEMATOPOIETIC STEM CELL SPECIFIC REPORTER MOUSE AND USES THEREOF
Hoxb5 identifies long-term hematopoietic stem cells. Expression of Hoxb5 distinguishes between LT-HSCs and non-LT-HSCs, and the marker identifies substantially all LT-HSC in the bone marrow. By utilizing fluorescent proteins under the endogenous expression control of Hoxb5, LT-HSC can be monitored and isolated, including without limitation detection and monitoring of HSC in bone morrow; production of LT-HSC from pluripotent stem cells such as iPS cells; for analysis of early stage LT-HSC; in screening methods for expansion and manipulation of LT-HSC, and the like.
METHOD OF REGULATING LIFESPAN USING TRANSGENIC CAENORHABDITIS ELEGANS
The present disclosure relates to transgenic Caenorhabditis elegans including, in sensory neurons, Channelrhodopsin 2 (ChR2)::Green Fluorescence Protein (GFP) DNA in which the ChR2 gene and the GFP gene are linked, a method of producing the same, a method of regulating the lifespan thereof, and a method of screening an aging regulation candidate by using the same. The present disclosure may also provide an animal model for research into prevention/treatment of aging-related diseases by regulating the lifespan of an animal on a subject level and a method of screening a drug candidate for prevention/treatment of aging-related diseases.
Systemic treatment of metastatic and/or systemically-disseminated cancers using GM-CSF-expressing poxviruses
The present invention concerns methods and compositions for the treatment of cancer and cancer cells using intravascular administration of a vaccinia virus. In some embodiments, methods and compositions involve a replicative vaccinia virus that encodes GM-CSF.
ANASTASIS BIOSENSOR
The present invention relates to the field of anastasis, i.e., the process of reversal of apoptosis. More specifically, the present invention provides methods and compositions useful for studying anastasis. In one embodiment, the present invention provides an in vivo biosensor comprising (a) a transcription factor complex comprising the Gal4 transcription factor linked to an enzyme cleavable linker, wherein the transcription factor complex is tethered to the plasma membrane via a transmembrane domain; and (b) a reporter system comprising (1) a first nucleic acid encoding flippase operably linked to the upstream activating sequence that binds Gal4; and (2) a second nucleic acid comprising an FRT-flanked stop codon cassette separating a constitutive promoter and a fluorescent protein open reading frame.
