Trap for insects
The invention refers to an insect trap consisting of a housing (1) in which there is a power supply system (2) and an electrical circuit board (3). The insect trap has a multi-layer mesh (4), in which an electric field of e.g. 2500 V is developed, thereby killing the insects. It may also have a lamp (7) to attract insects and a tray (8) at the bottom of the trap to collect the killed insects. The use of a screen (6) under the trap covers the remaining space of the aperture, allowing tenants to pass through.
METHOD FOR SEX SORTING OF MOSQUITOES AND APPARATUS THEREFOR
Method and apparatus for mechanical sex-sorting of mosquitoes by extracting a class of mosquitoes from unsorted mosquitoes comprises obtaining unsorted mosquitoes, obtaining images of individual mosquitoes in a stationary phase, electronically classifying the individuals from the images into male mosquitoes and/or female mosquitoes, and possibly also unclassified objects; obtaining co-ordinates of individuals of at least one of the male mosquito and female mosquito classifications, and using a robot arm to reach an individual identified by the obtained coordinates to store or remove the individuals, thereby to provide sex-sorted mosquitoes.
Systems and methods for minimizing phorid fly infestation in cemetery mausoleum buildings
Systems and methods for minimizing phorid fly infestation in cemetery mausoleum buildings are provided. An insecticide can be applied to electrostatically charged screens, which can be shaped to fit various openings in mausoleum buildings, including openings comprised by windows, crypt vents, roof vents, and floor drains. Standalone units can also be installed having insecticide applied electrostatically charged screens. The screens can be placed to interrupt the phorid fly mating and egg-laying process to limit or prevent phorid fly infestation in mausoleum buildings.
