A medium conveying apparatus includes an imaging device to image a medium and configured to move in a moving direction, a roller configured to move in the moving direction, on an upstream side of the imaging device, a conveyance guide provided with the imaging device to move the imaging device, wherein the conveyance guide includes a slope for coming into contact with the medium, an engaging member provided with the imaging device to move the imaging device, and a moving member to move the imaging device by engaging with the engaging member in conjunction with a movement of the roller. The engaging member and the moving member are configured to be separated at a distance from one another when the medium is not conveyed. The moving member moves the imaging device by engaging with the engaging member only when the medium has a thickness greater than the distance.

According to an embodiment, a winding device includes a core, a transfer path, a pinch roller, a detection unit, a driving unit, and a control unit. A band body is wound around the core. The transfer path transfers the band body to the core. The pinch roller presses the band body being transferred in the transfer path from one side of a first direction intersecting a transfer direction, and presses a partial range of the band body in a second direction intersecting both the transfer direction and the first direction. The detection unit detects an abnormally shaped portion formed in the band body in the transfer path. The control unit controls the driving unit based on a result of detection by the detection unit.
SHEET PROCESSING DEVICE
The sheet processing device includes a processing tray, a processing device, a discharge port, a discharge rollers pair, a supporting arm and an interlock mechanism. The discharge rollers pair has a lower roller and an upper roller. The supporting arm supports the upper roller and is turnable between a first position where the upper roller comes into contact with the sheet and a second position where the upper roller separates upwardly from the sheet. The interlock mechanism includes an actuator, a switch and a switch moving mechanism. The actuator is turned with an upwardly turning of the supporting arm. The switch detects the actuator to detect that the supporting arm is turned to the second position. The switch moving mechanism moves the switch to a switch non-detective position when the processing is not performed and moves the switch to a switch detective position when the processing is performed.
SHEET CONVEYANCE DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
There is provided a sheet conveyance device that includes a first conveyance roller and a second conveyance roller that are arranged at a position other than a center in a direction of sheet width in a sheet conveyance path, a roller selector that selects the first conveyance roller or the second conveyance roller as a roller to convey a sheet, and a controller that causes the roller selector to select the first conveyance roller or the second conveyance roller. The first conveyance roller is made of a material that causes a speed of the sheet conveyed by the first conveyance roller in contact with the first conveyance roller to be higher than a rotation speed of the first conveyance roller. The second conveyance roller is made of a material that causes a speed of the sheet conveyed by the second conveyance roller in contact with the second conveyance roller to be lower than a rotation speed of the second conveyance roller.

A sheet stacking apparatus includes a sheet stacking portion to be mounted into and drawn out of a mounting portion and provided with a side plate including a grip portion by which the sheet stacking portion can be drawn out in the draw-out direction. The sheet stacking portion is supported to be slidable in a draw-out direction by a rail, and the rail is supported to be slidable in the draw-out direction by a rail supporting portion provided in the mounting portion. A rotator is provided on either the rail supporting portion or the rail and disposed in contact with the other of the rail supporting portion and the rail. The rail, the rail supporting portion and the rotator are disposed on one side in the width direction of the sheet stacking portion, and the grip portion is disposed on the other side in the width direction.

An image reading device includes a first roller that is rotatably supported by a frame, a second roller that is supported by the frame in a rotatable and translatable manner and that presses a medium against the first roller, a joint unit that transmits rotation from a drive shaft to the second roller, a drive unit that rotates both the first roller and the drive shaft, and a read unit configured to read an image on a conveyed medium that is conveyed by the rotation of the both of the first roller and the second roller.

When the tray is in the first position, the second receiving portion is configured to move between a third position, which is at an upstream side relative to a first opening of the apparatus body in a second direction, and a fourth position, which is at a downstream side relative to the third position in the second direction. The second receiving portion at the third position allows a second recording medium to be conveyed from the second receiving portion in the second direction.

The pressing portion is movable between a first position and a second position via a third position. The pressing portion in the first position faces the first roller within a conveying region defined in the casing. The pressing portion in the second position is separated from the first roller farther than in the first position. The third position is located between the first position and the second position. The first roller is exposed to the conveying region. The first spring urges the pressing portion toward the first roller when the pressing portion is disposed between the first position and the second position. The second spring urges the pressing portion toward the first roller when the pressing portion is disposed between the second position and the third position.
