Method of protecting buildings from termite attack
The present invention relates to a method for protecting the lower regions of and structure of a building (10) from damage or degradation by termites. The method comprises the steps of creating a region in the ground below the building having properties hostile to termites whereby to discourage them from approaching the vicinity of the building. In one embodiment means for creating a hostile region in the ground below the building are provided by a pump (12) which creates a superatmoshpheric pressure field (40) in this region. Treatment agents (31) such as ozone may be delivered to the ground region in order to provide a hostile effect to the termites by affecting their pheromone chemistry and/or their reproductive or communicative behavior. A secondary function of the present invention relates to the creation of a forced ventilation (46) of the habitable region (18) within which the apparatus of the present invention resides.
Waste baskets or the like, with insect traps
A container is combined with a base having insect combating features, i.e. for trapping and/or poisoning of insects, preferably but not necessarily combined with insect attracting elements. In particular, the container may be a waste basket, and the targeted insects may be bed bugs, and/or roaches, and/or ants. The assembly has a container portion and a base portion. The interior of the base portion is accessible by insects via one or more small gaps or openings, and contains the trapping and/or poisoning elements, which may include a replaceable glue strip or the like. Preferably, the assembly is also be provided with insect attracting means, which may include chemical attractants, carbon dioxide generation, and/or heat. In some embodiments, separate areas may be provided to combat different insects.
Air treatment systems and methods
A system is provided for treating a space at least partially enclosed by a wall with an aerosolized compound. The system includes a discharge unit, a liquid diffusion appliance, and a conduit extending therebetween. The discharge unit is mounted to a first side of the wall and includes an aerosol outlet in fluid communication with the space to be treated. The liquid diffusion appliance is mounted to a second side of the wall and includes a control system for operating the liquid diffusion appliance to generate and discharge an aerosolized compound from an appliance outlet. The conduit couples the appliance outlet with the discharge unit and defines a passageway through the wall through which the aerosolized compound travels to be discharged into the space to be treated.
MOSQUITO AND BUG REPELLENT DISPENSER
The present disclosure relates to a repellent dispenser for bugs and mosquitoes. The dispenser contains a body housing one or more repellent reservoirs, and a blower or compressor connected to the one or more repellent reservoirs. The blower or compressor is further connected to one or more dispensing horns or tubes. A dispensing horn or an end cap exhaust may also be connected to the end of a tube. The repellent reservoirs may include sensors that are able to detect a liquid level in each of the one or more repellent reservoirs and send a signal when the liquid level is below a threshold. The blower or compressor can be set to operate for a preset duration, at specific intervals, at a designated time, or at a designated power level. The dispenser may also have a tab that enables the dispenser to be mounted on a parapet or handrail.
DURABLE SOLID PEST BARRIERS DEPLOYABLE ABOUT STRUCTURES AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
Described are systems, devices, compositions of matter, and methods associated with solid pest barriers. The solid pest barrier can comprise one or more pest control chemical(s), such as an insecticide, a pesticide, an herbicide, and/or the like. Solid pest barrier can be configured to degrade or weather over time, thereby releasing pest control chemical(s). Solid pest barrier can further comprise a curable or cross-linkable material mixed with pest control chemical(s). This mixture can be extruded to form the solid pest barrier. Alternatively, solid pest barrier can comprise an inner chamber or pores that are configured to releasably retain the pest control chemical(s). Solid pest barrier can comprise flexible materials that are woven together, with pores being formed within the flexible materials and also between the flexible materials once woven together to form the solid pest barrier. Such pores can be dimensioned and configured to releasably retain therein/therebetween pest control chemical(s).
Systems and methods for minimizing phorid fly infestation in cemetery mausoleum buildings
Systems and methods for minimizing phorid fly infestation in cemetery mausoleum buildings are provided. An insecticide can be applied to electrostatically charged screens, which can be shaped to fit various openings in mausoleum buildings, including openings comprised by windows, crypt vents, roof vents, and floor drains. Standalone units can also be installed having insecticide applied electrostatically charged screens. The screens can be placed to interrupt the phorid fly mating and egg-laying process to limit or prevent phorid fly infestation in mausoleum buildings.
