A method for bringing together a wrapper and a plurality of inserts can be used to form an advertising means compilation. In a region of a compilation section, the wrapper and the inserts are deposited on one another individually and in succession on a conveying element which is moved in a direction of transport. A leading edge of the wrapper is deposited offset relative to leading edges of the inserts so as to form an excess length of the wrapper. The inserts are deposited on one another, forming a stack, such that the leading edges of the inserts form a common fold edge. The excess length of the wrapper, which lies flat on the conveying element or on the stack of inserts, is folded around the fold edge and, at least in part, around the stack of inserts so as to form the advertising means compilation.

A method and an apparatus for forming advertising media compilations respectively consisting of one envelope and a plurality of inserts. Each advertising medium suitable for use as an envelope for an advertising media compilation to be formed is recorded in a computer-aided machine control. For each recorded advertising medium, an offset value is defined which corresponds to the required projecting length, relative to the associated inserts, wherein this offset value is used for forming the required projecting length in case of a changeover from one advertising media compilation to another advertising media compilation having an envelope that differs from the first envelope. The apparatus is respectively provided for this with a separate drive unit, connected to the computer-aided machine control, for at least one of the separating out and feeding elements and to the conveying element.

The braking force implementing body includes: at least one first element, which has a physical structure for a return-flow of the air jet supplied by the air jet nozzle, and at least one second element, which for the braking force implementation is in an operative connection with the first element. The second element is configured to implement an impulse force caused by the air jet from the air jet nozzle. The impulse force results as the braking force onto the flat shaped product.

Disclosed is an image forming apparatus, including: a first guide guiding one surface of a sheet downstream of a fixing unit fixing a toner image on the sheet and upstream of discharging rollers discharging the sheet to a stacking portion in a sheet conveying direction; a second guide facing the first guide, the second guide guiding the other surface of the sheet; protrusions with openings provided on the second guide in a sheet width direction orthogonal to the sheet conveying direction; recesses provided on the first guide in the sheet width direction, the recesses facing the protrusions; and a blower unit blowing air toward the sheet via the openings provided on the second guide, wherein a corrugated shape is formed in the width direction on the sheet to which air is blown by the protrusions provided on the second guide and the recesses provided on the first guide.

A paper feed mechanism includes: a paper storage to store sheets of paper; an air blowing unit disposed on each of both sides of the paper storage in a second direction orthogonal to a first direction corresponding to a paper conveyance direction, in which the air blowing unit blows air to a side end of each of the sheets of paper in the paper storage to float one or some of the sheets of paper in the paper storage; and a paper conveyance unit disposed above the paper storage, in which the paper conveyance unit holds, by suction, an uppermost sheet of paper among the floated sheets of paper, and conveys the uppermost sheet of paper. An air blowing position of the air blowing unit is changeable in the first direction according to information about the sheets of paper.

A sheet stacker includes a sheet ejector, a sheet stack portion, and air blowers. The sheet ejector ejects a sheet. The sheet stack portion stacks the sheet ejected by the sheet ejector. The air blowers blow air from blow ports toward the sheet ejected from the sheet ejector. Each of the air blowers includes an air generator, an air guide, a first blow portion, a second blow portion, and a switcher. The air generator generates the air. The air guide guides the air to each of the blow ports. The first blow portion blows the air toward the sheet. The second blow portion blows the air in a direction different from a direction in which the first blow portion blows the air. The switcher performs switching so that the air guide guides the air to one of the first blow portion and the second blow portion.

SYSTEM FOR PREVENTING PAPER JAMS BETWEEN SUBSYSTEM TRANSITIONS

An apparatus for controlling cross curl in corners of sheets between in-line transports includes a curved baffle placed between the two transports. A thin layer of high velocity air is applied to the curved baffle only at lead edge corner regions of the sheets. The high velocity air layer, which will have a tendency to follow the curved baffle (Coanda effect), will divert corners of the sheets (Bernoulli effect) towards the curved baffle. By positioning a curved baffle between the two transports and by applying a uniform air stream to it, a lower pressure area will be created. This will flatten the corners of the sheets and ensure passage between downstream baffles and acquisition by a downstream transport.

PAPER FEEDING DEVICE AND IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS

A paper feeding device of an embodiment includes a paper feed cassette, an alignment component, a fan, and a fan guiding duct component. A paper bundle in which a plurality of sheets of paper are stacked can be placed on the paper feed cassette. The alignment component can align the paper bundle placed on the paper feed cassette. The fan is connected to the alignment component. The fan can generate airflow. The fan guiding duct component is connected to the alignment component. The fan guiding duct component is positioned above the paper bundle placed on the paper feed cassette. The fan guiding duct component generates a negative pressure between the fan guiding duct component and an uppermost sheet of paper in the paper bundle due to the airflow from the fan.

The device further comprises a vacuum feeder for feeding papers from their position on the storage surface and imparting on an uppermost sheet of paper a horizontal displacement, and a blower arrangement adapted to provide a curtain of air separating the uppermost sheet of paper from the rest of the stack of papers. The blower arrangement comprises a front blower unit having air openings with a first portion adapted to create first air cones and second portions adapted to create second air cones, wherein the first air cones are different from the second air cones.
