An image forming apparatus of the invention includes an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet; a plurality of storage portions each configured to store the sheet with the image formed thereon by the image forming unit; an opening configured to expose the sheet stored in the storage portion to the outside; and a sheet moving unit configured to move the sheet until a leading edge of the sheet stored in the storage portion passes the opening and a portion of the sheet is exposed from the opening to the outside. The sheet moving unit exposes sheets stored in a plurality of the storage portions in a stacked manner from the opening.
Sheet discharge apparatus provided with a plurality of sheet discharge trays
A sheet discharge apparatus includes first and second discharge trays, a support unit, first and second discharge rollers, and first and second controlling units. The second discharge tray is disposed above the first discharge tray and is detachable from the support unit. The first and second discharge rollers discharge a sheet toward the first and second discharge trays respectively. The first controlling unit executes control such that, in a case that the second discharge tray is detached from the support unit while the first discharge roller and the second discharge roller are halted, the first discharge roller remains halted, and in a case that the second discharge tray is detached from the support unit while the first discharge roller and the second discharge roller are rotating, the first discharge roller is halted after the first discharge roller continues rotating until a sheet has been discharged toward the first discharge tray.
Multi-path media diverter system for an imaging device
A media diverter system for an imaging device including a single motor coupled to one of a plurality of diverter assemblies for sequentially directing media sheets from an input path to one of a plurality of output destinations. Each diverter assembly includes a gate moveable between a first and a second position for opening a path between an input and a first and a second output, respectively, a pivot arm coupled to the gate, and a drive gear providing a lobe having up and down camming surfaces on which the pivot arm travels. The single drive motor rotatably is coupled to the drive gears, and, as the drive motor is driven, the drive gears synchronously rotate and corresponding gates are moved to one of a first and a second position for providing a media path from an input of the system to a selected one of the output destinations.

An image forming apparatus having an apparatus main body includes an image forming unit provided within the apparatus main body, a stacker portion provided on an upper surface of the apparatus main body, and a sheet storage portion provided between the image forming unit and the stacker portion. The image forming unit forms an image on a sheet. The stacker portion may receive, as stacked sheets, sheets on which images are formed by the image forming unit. The sheet storage portion may store, within the apparatus main body, a sheet on which an image is formed by the image forming unit.
