Transporting apparatus, fibrous feedstock recycling apparatus, and transporting method
A transporting apparatus includes a pressurizing roller that transports a web-like or sheet-like transport target object and a heating roller disposed downstream of the pressurizing roller in a transport path, a first bottom sensor and a first top sensor that are disposed between the pressurizing roller and the heating roller, a measuring section that measures a time from when the transport target object is detected by the first bottom sensor until the transport target object is detected by the first top sensor, and a rotation control section that modifies a rotation speed of the heating roller when a time measured by the measuring section is shorter than a first reference time.
MODULE BONDING INSTALLATION APPARATUS, DETECTION DEVICE AND DETECTION METHOD
The present application discloses a module bonding installation apparatus, detection device and detection method, thereby controlling recovery of cushion material through detecting by the detection device a feeding length of the cushion material at a cushion material supply end in a unit time.

Apparatus and method for making a coil of dunnage
A dunnage conversion system for making a coil of dunnage from a sheet stock includes a coiler, a movable dancer upstream of the coiler and interposed in a path of the sheet stock, and a controller communicatively coupled to each of the coiler and the movable dancer. The coiler is configured to wind the sheet stock, and the controller is configured to control the speed of the coiler based on the position of the movable dancer to control tension of the sheet stock upstream of the coiler. The sheet stock drawn about the movable dancer may be a slit-sheet stock having a plurality of slits configured to expand under tension applied in a feed direction. The controller may be configured to control expansion of the slit-sheet stock upstream of the coiler allowing conversion of the sheet stock into a coil of relatively less dense dunnage prior to or during winding.
Device for mounting, holding, and unspooling a packaging film roll, used in a horizontal, form, fill, and seal packaging machine
Disclosed is a device for mounting and unspooling a packaging film roll. The device is attached to a horizontal, form, fill, and seal packaging machine. The film is used to form the bottom portion of packages made by the machine. The device comprises of a shaft, sleeve subassembly, air chuck, adjuster subassembly, internal and external housing subassemblies, brake, and film roller subassembly. The sleeve subassembly along with the chuck is used for holding the packing film roll. The adjuster subassembly is used to aligning the packaging film roll with the machine's conveying chain. The conveying chain pulls the film into the machine, resulting in unspooling of the packaging film roll. The brake is used to controllably stop and restart the unspooling of the film roll, which allows the film roller subassembly to keep the packing film entering the machine is flat and properly tensioned.

Non-contact measurement of material remaining in expendable spools
A system and method for non-contact measurement of remaining spooled material. The system comprises at least one optical signal source configured to illuminate spooled material with an optical beam having an optical beam width that illuminates the material remaining in the spool. The optical beam width and spacing are such that spooled material is illuminated by each optical signal source. The system includes drive circuitry configured to drive the at least one optical signal source using pulses. The system further includes at least one optical signal receiver configured to receive light reflected from each of said light pulses. The system still further includes a processor configured to: establish a number and drive strength of the pulses; and cause measurements to be performed of the remaining spooled material.
Tension regulating directly driven roller festoon
A web handling system and method for controlling tension in a web of material is disclosed. For instance, the web handling system is particularly well suited for maintaining web tension within predefined setpoints during temporary interruptions in the process, such as during splicing operations. The web handling system includes an accumulator or festoon that accumulates amounts of the material as the material is being fed downstream. At least one guide roll within the festoon is coupled to a drive device, such as a motor. The system also includes at least one tension sensing device. The drive device accelerates or decelerates the guide roll based upon information obtained from the tension sensing device. In one embodiment, the system further includes an electronic gearing configuration between a roll of material being unwound and the guide roll within the festoon for better synchronization and further minimizing tension swings. The electronic gearing can include a diameter calculator for the roll of material being unwound based on speed feedback of a driven guide roll.
LINER-LESS LABEL PRINTER SYSTEM AND METHOD
A pre-feed system and method for a liner-less label printer includes a drive roll that is configured to peel liner-less labels from a reel and pass the labels to an in-line label printer at a consistent rate. An idler roll disposed in proximity to the drive roll creates a nip for pulling labels from the reel. The idler roll is comprised of silicone which prevents the adhesive side of the liner-less label from sticking. A print controller monitors a non-contact reflective object sensor disposed in proximity to the path of the liner-less labels between the drive roll and the in-line printer. The print controller adjusts the speed of the drive roll to maintain a consistent rate for labels entering the print feed of the in-line label printer and reduces the amount of force required to feed labels into the printer.
