A sheet feeder is provided. The sheet feeder includes a roller to feed a sheet, a motor to rotate the roller, and a motor controller to control rotation of the motor by a feedback control. The motor controller detects a condition of the sheet based on a value acquired in the feedback control at the time a load is applied from the sheet to the roller, while performing a stop control to stop the roller at a designated stop position. The stop control is performed after the motor is rotated in a direction opposite to a direction of feed of the sheet.

A sheet feeder is provided. The sheet feeder includes a roller to feed a sheet, a motor to rotate the roller, and a motor controller to control rotation of the motor by a feedback control. A sheet feeding apparatus, including: a stacking unit; a feed unit having a contact portion to be brought into contact with a sheet stacked on the stacking unit and a noncontact portion kept out of contact with the sheet, the feed unit being configured to feed the sheet in a contact state in which the contact portion is in contact with the sheet, and then turn into a noncontact state in which the noncontact portion faces the sheet so as to be kept out of contact with the sheet; a conveyance unit arranged downstream of the feed unit; and a drive unit configured to drive the conveyance unit at a first speed in the contact state and to drive the conveyance unit at a second speed higher than the first speed in the noncontact state.

A sheet feeding apparatus, including: a stacking unit; a feed unit having a contact portion to be brought into contact with a sheet stacked on the stacking unit and a noncontact portion kept out of contact with the sheet, the feed unit being configured to feed the sheet in a contact state in which the contact portion is in contact with the sheet, and then turn into a noncontact state in which the noncontact portion faces the sheet so as to be kept out of contact with the sheet; a conveyance unit arranged downstream of the feed unit; and a drive unit configured to drive the conveyance unit at a first speed in the contact state and to drive the conveyance unit at a second speed higher than the first speed in the noncontact state.

According to an embodiment, a sheet post-processing apparatus according to the embodiment includes a paddle member and a controller. The paddle member rotates around a rotating shaft, presses a plurality of sheets held on a processing tray against a stopper and aligns ends of the sheets in a sheet transport direction. After the ends of the sheets in the sheet transport direction are aligned, the controller further rotates the paddle member, and stops rotation of the paddle member in a state that the paddle member comes in contact with the sheets held on the processing tray.

According to an embodiment, a sheet post-processing apparatus according to the embodiment includes a paddle member and a controller. The paddle member rotates around a rotating shaft, presses a plurality of sheets held on a processing tray against a stopper and aligns ends of the sheets in a sheet transport direction. After the ends of the sheets in the sheet transport direction are aligned, the controller further rotates the paddle member, and stops rotation of the paddle member in a state that the paddle member comes in contact with the sheets held on the processing tray.

A sheet conveying apparatus includes: a feeding unit configured to feed a sheet member; a conveying roller that is provided downstream of the feeding unit in a conveying direction, and that is configured to convey the sheet member fed by the feeding unit downstream in the conveying direction; a motor configured to drive the conveying roller. In a state where the conveying roller is conveying a first sheet member that was fed by the feeding unit, if a value of a torque current component of a drive current flowing in a winding of the motor changes from a value greater than or equal to a predetermined value to a value less than the predetermined value, the feeding unit starts feeding of a second sheet member that is to be fed after the first sheet member.

A sheet conveying apparatus includes: a feeding unit configured to feed a sheet member; a conveying roller that is provided downstream of the feeding unit in a conveying direction, and that is configured to convey the sheet member fed by the feeding unit downstream in the conveying direction; a motor configured to drive the conveying roller. In a state where the conveying roller is conveying a first sheet member that was fed by the feeding unit, if a value of a torque current component of a drive current flowing in a winding of the motor changes from a value greater than or equal to a predetermined value to a value less than the predetermined value, the feeding unit starts feeding of a second sheet member that is to be fed after the first sheet member.

A sheet conveying device, which is included in an image reading device and an image forming apparatus, includes a passage forming body and a sound absorber. The passage forming body is configured to define a sheet conveying passage through which a sheet passes. The sound absorber includes a hollow portion and a communication portion configured to communication the hollow portion and the sheet conveying passage. A position of the communication portion of the sound absorber is changeable in the sheet conveying passage. The sheet conveying device included in the image reading device includes an original document conveying device configured to convey an original document having an image on a surface. The sheet conveying device included in the image forming apparatus includes a recording medium conveying device configured to convey the recording medium accommodated in a recording medium container to the image forming device.

A sheet conveying device, which is included in an image reading device and an image forming apparatus, includes a passage forming body and a sound absorber. The passage forming body is configured to define a sheet conveying passage through which a sheet passes. The sound absorber includes a hollow portion and a communication portion configured to communication the hollow portion and the sheet conveying passage. A position of the communication portion of the sound absorber is changeable in the sheet conveying passage. The sheet conveying device included in the image reading device includes an original document conveying device configured to convey an original document having an image on a surface. The sheet conveying device included in the image forming apparatus includes a recording medium conveying device configured to convey the recording medium accommodated in a recording medium container to the image forming device.
