The circuitry is to extract a feature amount of the operating sound collected by the sound collector, select, among multiple sets of index data serving as index to determine whether an abnormal conveyance of the sheet is to be occurred, a set of index data corresponding to a conveyance condition of the sheet, and determine whether the abnormal conveyance of the sheet is to be occurred based on the feature amount and the set of index data selected from the multiple sets of index data.

A document conveying device includes a feed roller, a separation pad, a pad holder, a tension spring, and a separation pad support mechanism. The feed roller and the separation pad form a separation nip at which a sheet is separated and conveyed. The pad holder holds the separation pad and can be turned upward and downward around a turning shaft. The tension spring biases the pad holder upward to press the separation pad against the feed roller. The separation pad support mechanism turns the pad holder in a direction to separate the separation pad from the feed roller against a biasing force of the tension spring.

A medium processing device includes a processing unit performing processing on a medium, a processing tray on which the medium is placed, a discharge roller pair configured to discharge the medium, a feeding unit configured to feed the medium to the processing tray and the discharge roller pair, and a curvature applying unit configured to apply curvature to the medium along a width direction intersecting a conveyance direction. The discharge roller pair includes a first roller and a second roller. The second roller is displaceable between a first state where the second roller can nip the medium with the first roller, and a second state where the second roller is more separated from the first roller. The curvature applying unit is in a curvature applying state when the second roller is in the second state, and in a retracted state when the second roller is in the first state.

A printing device includes two stackers ST1 and ST2. The first stacker ST1 is discharged with one surface of a medium facing upward. The second stacker ST2 is discharged with the other surface of the medium facing upward. In the case of double-sided printing and the discharge destination of the medium is the first stacker ST1, a page to be printed on a first surface P1 is set to a first page, and a page to be printed on a second surface P2 is set to a second page. In a case of the discharge destination of the medium is to be switched from the first stacker ST1 to the second stacker ST2 during printing, the pages to be printed on the first surface P1 are set to the second pages, and the pages to be printed on the second surface P2 are set to the first pages.

A printing apparatus includes a printing unit, first and second conveyance units conveying a print medium, and a control unit performing reduction control to reduce an overlap amount between a preceding print medium and a succeeding print medium by using a speed difference. In a first case in which a trailing end of the preceding print medium and a leading end of the succeeding print medium are positioned in an interval between the first and second conveyance units, a conveying speed of the preceding print medium is set to a first speed. In a second case which is different from the first case and in which the trailing end and the leading end are positioned in the interval between the first and second conveyance units, the conveying speed of the preceding print medium is set to a second speed different from the first speed.
