A fish tape tool includes a housing, a chamber defined in the housing, and a motor supported by the housing. The motor is configured to rotate in a first direction and a second direction that is opposite the first direction. An output reel is disposed in the chamber and is rotatable in response to receiving torque from the motor. A drum contains a fish tape and including a rotatable drum portion having an inner wall that is engaged by the output reel when the drum is inserted into the chamber of the housing. When the drum portion is rotated by the output reel in the first direction, fish tape is dispensed from the drum. When the drum portion is rotated by the output reel in the second direction, fish tape is retracted into the drum.

A fish tape system includes a fish tape and a case having a storage compartment that stores the fish tape for deployment from the case. The fish tape has a length extending from a first end to a second end. The length includes a luminescent material that emits light after being energized by exposure to a light source. At least a portion of the case is transparent to allow the luminescent material 22 to be energized by light passing through the transparent portion and into the storage compartment.

A fish tape system includes a fish tape and a case having a storage compartment that stores the fish tape for deployment from the case. The fish tape includes a shell having an upper base wall, a lower base wall, an inner side wall extending between inner perimeters of the base walls and forming a central aperture through the shell, an outer side wall extending between outer perimeters of the base walls and defining an outer diameter of the shell, the walls defining a cavity therein, the upper base wall having a first opening therethrough in communication with the cavity through which the fish tape can exit, and the outer side wall having a second opening therethrough in communication with the cavity through which the fish tape can exit. An ergonomic fish tape configured to house a fish tape in accordance with some example embodiments is provided. The fish tape includes a shell having an upper base wall, a lower base wall, an inner side wall extending between inner perimeters of the base walls and forming a central aperture through the shell, an outer side wall extending between outer perimeters of the base walls and defining an outer diameter of the shell, the walls defining a cavity therein, and a storage tray within the cavity. An opening through which the fish tape can pass is provided through the outer side wall. The fish tape case does not include a handle, and the walls of the shell are devoid of surfaces which would indicate or suggest to a user as to how to grip the fish tape case.

A fish tape for use with a fish tape tool. The fish tape includes an inner core formed of a first material, and an outer sheath surrounding the inner core formed of a second material that has a lower coefficient of friction than the first material.

Described herein is a fish tape reel comprising a housing with two side shells coupled together. The housing defines an internal cavity. An internal portion of the housing defines a plurality of flat gripping portions and a plurality of finger notches. The housing comprises a plurality of tabs in the internal cavity, the tabs interfacing against an inner annular portion that is coupled to the handle when the handle rotates around the housing.

The fish tape tool includes a sensor configured to detect the type of fish tape in the fish tape drum inserted into the chamber of the housing.
