BIRD FRIENDLY ELECTROCHROMIC DEVICES
Various embodiments herein relate to electrochromic windows that are bird friendly, as well as methods and apparatus for forming such windows. Bird friendly windows include one or more elements that make the window visible to birds so that the birds recognize that they cannot fly through the window. An electrochromic window includes one or more transparent substrates, wherein at least one of the substrates is an electrochromic (EC) lite including an electrochromic device and a pattern formed on at least one of the substrates by a laser, the pattern including a first feature configured to provide a set of optical properties different than optical properties of the transparent substrate. The set of optical properties includes one or more characteristics of refractivity, reflectivity and diffraction.

Window unit having UV reflecting coating with high contrast ratio at large viewing angles for reducing bird collisions
A window unit is designed to prevent or reduce bird collisions therewith. The window unit may include first and second substrates (e.g., glass substrates) spaced apart from one another, wherein at least one of the substrates supports an ultraviolet (UV) reflecting coating for reflecting UV radiation so that birds are capable of more easily seeing the window. The UV reflecting coating is preferably patterned so that it is not provided across the entirety of the window unit. By making the window more visible to birds, bird collisions and bird deaths can be reduced. The UV reflecting coating is designed to have high UV reflectance across a large range of viewing angles.
Systems and methods for reducing the risks of bird strike
A combination of a visual warning cue and a conspicuous auditory warning cue acts synergistically to reduce bird strike frequency against a man-made structure. Methods and systems are described for providing said combination of warning cues when a bird is within a warning zone. The auditory warning cue entails at least two separate sonic pulses within one second when the bird is within the warning zone, and is defined by an intensity-weighted frequency average of between 6 kHz and 18 kHz, and an intensity at a location within the warning zone of at least 70 decibels.

Chemical Dispersant With Animal-Deterrent Visual Effects
A deterrent device for birds or other animals from target location uses a combination of light reflectors and an odor that acts as a deterrent against birds. A collection of the light reflectors can be disposed in gel having an odor-releasing composition. The gel can be disposed in a dish or an adhesive tape which should be positioned in close proximity to the location where birds or other animals should be deterred.

Rotating arched heliograph for continuous visual signaling, drone tracking and bird deterrent
This invention relates to a rotating heliograph with arched convex reflective mirror surfaces that provides an autonomous continuous flashing visual signal from the reflection of the Sun, that can be used for many applications such as a survival distress signal, drone (UAV) anti-collision/tracking, and as a bird deterrent.
